Chipmaker Nvidia is reportedly working on a compact tablet that
will bear the “Shield” branding.
According to a document filed at the Global Certification
Forume or GCF (a specific body that provides certification for companies that
manufactures products with 3G technologies) the slate will be marketed as the
SHIELD tablet.
Previous rumours have indicated that the tablet might have a
7.9-inch display with the company’s new Tegra K1 processor. And unlike Nvidia’s
current slate, the Tegra
Note 7, the Shield tablet will most likely be targeting gamers. In fact,
there have been speculations that Nvidia will bundle the tablet with gaming
accessories similar to those of Razer’s Edge.
At the moment, there’s very little information about this
alleged Shield Tablet but there's already a placeholder in Nvidia's TegraZone webpage, so we’ll just have to wait and see for more announcements from Nvidia.

Although the Wii U console isn’t doing as well as Sony’s
PlayStation 4 or Microsoft’s Xbox One, E3 wouldn’t be complete without some
announcements from Nintendo. The Japanese company has already made a pass last
year when it didn’t come up with anything big in contrast to the other two
gaming heavyweights that released their newest consoles at the event.
Luckily, this year’s E3 was more of a celebration of games rather
than hardware, so at least the playing field is quite even this time. If you
have a Nintendo Wii U or a 3DS handheld console, here are some of the games you
might be interested in getting in the very near future.
FOR THE NINTENDO Wii U
DEVIL’s THIRD
LEGEND OF ZELDA
SONIC BOOM
JUST DANCE 2015

Sony’s much awaited PlayStation 4 just hit the shelves last
Saturday in the United States and Canada and it looks like the company has a
reason to be happy as its newest gaming console has sold over 1 million units
during its first 24 hours.
The console is set to hit Europe in a couple of weeks and by
that time it might even come close to the Nintendo Wii U month to date sale
figures of around 3.9 million even surpassing it towards the last parts of the
year.
However, the release of the PS4 isn’t all perfect. For
starters, there was some issue with the PlayStation Network bogging down due to
the surge in PS4 logons during the launch. This resulted in a number of users
unable to download the essential first-day update as well as download games or
play online.
There were even a select number of consumers that
experienced a “blue light of death” that rendered their consoles dead on
arrival. But then again, having the title of seeling over a million on its first
24 hours is still quite a feat and it remains a question how its main rival –
the Xbox One would fair once it is released.
The Xbox One is scheduled to go on sale this month so we’ll
just have to wait a few more days before to see if Microsoft’s vision of the
future of gaming would outshine that of Sony’s.

The Sony PlayStation 4 is about to ship in a few weeks and
Sony is already paving the way for their latest generation console by making
sure that all the necessary things are in place before the big event. One such
item on Sony’s checklist is the PS Vita, which will play a big role once the
PS4 hits the shelves.
Yesterday, the company has pushed an update to the PS Vita
that will allow the device to connect to the PS4 for Remote Play and second
screen purposes in a feature called PS4 Link. Other notable changes brought
about by the update include added parental controls, a panoramic photo setting
to the PS Vita options, and an improved Friends app in anticipation of the PS4’s
newly expanded friends list.
The Group Messaging and Party app have also been revamped
with a slightly redesigned icon, new names and new functionalities, which now
allow users to send messages to smartphones via the PlayStation app and the
ability to voice and text chat with other PS4 users. The PS Vita can now
connect to PS3 consoles through the Content Manager app that works over Wi-Fi.
PS4 trophies can also now be viewed within the PS Vita,
while system updates can now be downloaded automatically.

Microsoft has finally unveiled the new Xbox gaming console
today at its Xbox Reveal event at its headquarters in Redmond, Washington. And
contrary to previous rumours, the new console isn’t named the Xbox 720 or the
Xbox Infinity but rather it’s called the Xbox One.
Microsoft is branding the console as the all-in-one games
and entertainment system for the living room of the 21st century
that puts the user at the center of it all, giving users instant access to TV,
games, music, movies, sports and even Skype, all in one place without switching
TV inputs, waiting for slow updates or lengthy downloads.
The Xbox One will launch in markets all over the world later
this year and will sport a host of new features which include the following:
LIVE TV (Market dependent) – with Live TV, users can
navigate and watch live TV through the Xbox One. There will be no need to
switch inputs if you want to watch TV or want to play a game. Users simple give
a voice command to the console and it will instantly make the switch for you to
play a game or watch TV.
SNAP – snap is a
feature taken from Microsoft’s Windows operating system and lets the console do
two things at once. Just like other features on the Xbox One, the snap feature
can also be activated through voice commands.
HOME – Home is a
feature lifted from Windows 8 and as such bears a striking resemblance to the
Windows 8 home screen clad with tiles. The Home screen on the new Xbox One
features content that is most useful to users such as the last activity done on
the console or favourite games or apps. Users can also pin movies, music and
other content for easier access.
ONEGUIDE (market
dependent) – with OneGuide, users can find TV and entertainment quickly with
voice searches for names or networks presented in an easy-to-use and tailored
program guide.
TRENDING (market
dependent) – For those who still can’t decide on what to watch, the Xbox One
has a new feature called Trending
that lists the entertainment that’s popular within the Xbox community or a
user’s personal network. Users can also use the feature to keep themselves
updated with what’s hot in TV, games and entertainment and stay connected with
their friends in new and social ways.
SKYPE – Then there’s
the Skype for the Xbox One. The app is specifically designed for the console
and allows users to talk with their friends on their TVs in HD. Users can also
have group Skype calls on their TV or split the TV screen to join in case
you’re doing something else while making a Skype call.

Electronic Arts hasn’t had much luck these
past few weeks as it received a lot of negative feedback from customers and
critics specifically the mess it made during the launch of its open-ended
city-building computer and console game series – Sim City.
The game was plagued by server problems
during its launch causing gamers to experience a lot of download, loading and
login problems. The company has issued a formal statement saying that they
weren’t able to anticipate the influx of users who logged in during the launch
of the game.
But aside from the major server issues, the
game still suffers from a number of bugs and processing issues. So today, EA
announced that it will be bringing a major update to SimCity that aims to fix
majority of the issues faced by gamers.
These changes include the proper processing
of cities as well as the random appearance of air pollution and unexpected
number of tourist will be fixed. A fix for players who are always getting struck
by natural disasters will also be fixed, while mansions for city mayors will
also be added.
Electronic Arts has already notified its
users that in order to install the updates, the company will need to shut down
all of its servers for a few hours on Monday at around 1pm EST in the US. Any thoughts about SimCity? Please do tell us
by leaving a comment below.
