Samsung’s Ativ line of Ultrabooks is welcoming two new additions by the name of the Ativ Book 9 Pro and the Ativ Book 9 Spin.

The Ativ Book 9 Pro sports a 15.6-inch touchscreen display with 4K resolution (3840 x 2160). Under the hood there’s an Intel Core i7 processor (6700HQ) with 8GB of RAM, 256GB SATA3 Solid state drive and an NVidia GeForce GTX 950M (2GB GDDR5).

The Pro model also comes with a quad-speaker system and boasts the usual set of ports including an SD card reader, a headphone and mic combo jack, 4K HDMI output, three USB 3.0 ports and a lone USB Type-C port.

On the other hand, the Ativ Book 9 Spin comes with a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with QHD+ resolution (3200 x 1800) and will be powered by an Intel Core i7 processor (6500U) with the same 8GB RAM, 256GB of storage as the Pro model and Intel HD Graphics 520 (shared memory).

In the connectivity department, the Ativ Book 9 Spin has three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI output, a microSD card reader and a headphone/mic combo jack. The Ativ Book 9 Spin follows the Yoga trend with a 360-degree hinge that allows the device to be used in different modes.

Both models are now available for purchase with the Pro model selling for $1599 while the Ativ Book 9 Spin will sell for $1399.

Lenovo has just unveiled its newest Yoga products at a special event in the UK. Leading the charge is an update to its Yoga Pro multi-mode laptop – the Yoga 3 Pro.

The new model will feature Intel’s newest Core M-70 processor allowing the device to be thinner and lighter than last year’s model. In fact, Lenovo claims the new Yoga 3 Pro is 14 percent lighter and 17 percent thinner than its predecessor. There’s also 8GB of DDR3L RAM, up to 512GB SSD, Bluetooth v4.0 and Intel HD Graphics 5300.

Just like the Yoga 2 Pro, the 2014 model will be capable of transforming into different modes thanks to its 360-degree 6-hinge watchband design. The 13-inch display of the Yoga 3 Pro will have a resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels. The laptop also features JBL speakers with Waves Audio certification and a 9-hour battery.

Lenovo is planning to ship the Yoga 3 Pro starting this month for $1349.

Also on the company’s laptop menu at the event was the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14, which as the name implied has a 14-inch display in contrast to the 12.5-inch screen of last year’s model which was first introduced at IFA.

Specs of the new ThinkPad Yoga include an Intel Core i5 processor, Nvidia GeForce 840 graphics, 1TB of storage and 8GB of RAM. Just like other laptops with a Yoga in its name, this ThinkPad features a 360-degree hinge that allows it to transform into different modes.

Connectivity-wise, the laptop packs two HDMI ports, a four-in-one card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port and of course Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Lenovo will start shipping the ThinkPad Yoga 14 before the end of the month for $1199.

We first saw Lenovo’s flagship business Ultrabook – the ThinkPad X1 Carbon at CES in Las Vegas back in January. Now this laptop has finally reached Philippine shores.

The laptop is made from satellite-grade carbon fiber and tips the scales at 2.83 lbs. Lenovo has equipped the X1 Carbon with a decent battery pack that can last up to nine hours on a single charge. It also comes with an adaptive keyboard that dynamically adjusts its function depending on the user’s needs.

The X1 Carbon still comes with the signature red TrackPoint in the middle of the keyboard, a fingerprint scanner, a button-less trackpad and even NFC.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is now available in ThinkPad Exclusive stores for PHP105,000.

Asus ROG’s GX500 wasn’t the only Ultrabook gaming laptop at CES this year. Gigabyte was also at the event with their Aorus X3 – a 13.3-inch gaming gear that sports an Intel Core i7 processor that weighs only 1.87kg.

The 13-3-inch display on the Auros X3 boasts a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and of the LCD family. It will also have 8GB of RAM, which can be expanded to 16GB, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M (with GB of RAM) coupled with Intel HD Graphics 4600 and up to 512GB of SSD configured in RAID 0.

Of course there’s the usual connectivity features including Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi ac, gigabit Ethernet, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, HDMI and a mini Display port. The Auros X3 also packs an HD camera, a backlit keyboard with individual Macro keys and a 73.2Wh battery.

There’s also a “Plus” version that sports a higher resolution screen at 3200 x 1800 pixels. The Gigabyte Auros X3 will be available by Q3 2014 with a suggested retail price of $2099. If you’re up for a bigger screen, you might want to check out the Gigabyte Auros X7 which also sells for $2099 and was first introduced at CES 2014.

Toshiba’s concept convertible that we saw at CES back in January has finally materialized in the form of the Kirabook L93, which the Japanese company unveiled this week at Computex in Taipei.

The Kirabook L93 is basically another iteration of the Lenovo Yoga design but with an additional two modes. Aside from the typical laptop, tablet, display and tent modes, the L93 has a display mode where the keyboard is detached and an inclined tablet mode that’s something pen users might love.

Toshiba has equipped the Kirabook L93 with an Intel Core i5 Haswell processor, 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM.

The L93 is packing a 13-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 250 x 1440 pixels and full island style keyboard. Obviously, this keyboard will have a power supply of its own but Toshiba hasn’t disclosed how it would connect to the main unit and how it will be charged.

There’s no trackpad available on the device, but there will be small left and right click buttons at the lower portion of the keyboard. The cursor is moved using a joystick placed at the middle of the keyboard.

The device is now available in Japan for $2600 but there’s no word yet when the laptop will reach other markets. Nonetheless, we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more news about the L93.

HP is on a roll these past few months releasing tablets left and right. But the company is mostly known for its enterprise solutions including business laptops. This week, HP has announced a couple of devices that’s designed to replace its current line of enterprise Ultrabooks.

The HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G1 and Revolve G2 are the company’s latest business laptops that incorporate features found on its previous business Ultrabooks. The G1 comes with a 14-inch screen with an aluminium body and features a high-resolution display with an optional touchscreen.

The G1 is also thinner than its predecessor measuring only 15.9mm. Moreover, HP has added a Synaptics Forcepad that uses pressure-sensitivity instead of buttons. It also comes with a number of security features including a fingerprint sensor and Smart Card reader. It also has MIL-STD 810G certification that ensures the device’s ruggedness and durability.

The EliteBook 1040 G1 also comes with Intel’s latest Core processors and has a battery pack that is said to last for at least 10 hours. The Ultrabook is expected to be priced at $1,299.

Another Ultrabook from HP that debuted this week is the HP EliteBook Revolve G2. It follows the same design aesthetics as the EliteBook Revolve from last year.

It still features the convertible design that lets users swivel the touchscreen for use as a tablet. HP has also added some improvements in the processing department including Intel’s newest Haswell CPU, an LTE radio and an improved stylus.

The HP Elitebook Revolve G2 will be available towards the end of the month for $1,364.
