The world’s biggest tech show – CES is upon us once again. The week-long event starts next Monday and is the place where tech giants unveil their latest creations as well as projects and innovations they are currently working on. Here are some of the things we’ve heard that might make an appearance during the event.

Xiaomi – According to Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun via his Weibo account, the company is currently preparing to launch its newest flagship device sometime in January of next year. There are no details as to what this new device might be, but popular speculations suggest that it could be the new Mi4S. However, there are also rumors that Xiaomi might be working on a Core i7-packing notebook with a 15-inch 1080p display that costs less than $500.

HTC – Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC, on the other hand is reportedly planning a CES debut for its upcoming flagship codenamed Hima. Earlier today, specs of the alleged handset show up on popular benchmarking app Antutu, further fueling the rumors about its CES launch.

According to the benchmark scores, the Hima will have a 5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 810 chipset – with an ARM-made 64-bit octa-core processor, an Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB of RAM, a 20.7MP rear camera, a 13MP selfie camera and Android 5.0.1 out of the box.

Asus – Meanwhile, on Asus’ camp, there are already several devices lining up for a CES debut. Leading the charge is a new Zenfone that was first seen on the company’s CES trailer and will reportedly have a dual-camera setup. A new 2-in-1 and a Macbook Air competitor are also expected to make an appearance at the event.

Kodak – Making a surprise announcement this week is Kodak who mentioned that it will be launching a new line of products at CES. These include a smartphone followed by a tablet and a connected camera after a couple of weeks.

Two smartphones from two manufacturers have made the headlines today. On one hand, there’s the alleged successor to the highly popular Asus Zenfone line, while on the other, there’s a handset from Nokia that spells the return of the Finnish brand into the manufacturing of smartphones after the Microsoft acquisition.

On Asus’ side, the leaked image of the upcoming Zenfones suggests that the handset will have a dual-camera setup at the back. There’s no information yet on how the phone will use the two cameras but the teaser did mention that the company will make the announcement at CES by January of next year.

On the other hand, a leaked image of what seems to be a Nokia handset powered by Android. Dubbed as the Nokia C1, the device will have an Intel-made chipset, a 5-inch 720p display, 32GB of internal storage, an 8MP+5MP camera combo and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

The smartphone will of course have the company’s  launcher and will be manufactured by Foxconn as the company is prohibited from building smartphones as per its contract with Microsoft.

Back in June, we heard that Nokia was working on a successor to its highly-praised Lumia 1020 smartphone. During that time, what we saw was a concept phone codenamed McLaren that’s made from aluminum and sporting a slightly smaller camera sensor compared to the 1020. This week, some live photos of what appears to be a Lumia phone with a big sensor were posted on the internet.

The phone just like the Lumia 1020 packs a massive PureView camera module at the back (reportedly a 50MP sensor), which is said to be Zeiss-certified and apparently comes with a dual-LED flash. Other notable specs of the device include a 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, a quad-core Snapdragon chip and 32GB of on-board storage.

Moreover, the leaked photos suggest that the handset will support 4G connectivity, a micro SIM and a microSD card slot. The photo also shows the size of the phone compared to an iPhone 6, which shows that the phone might have the same 4.7-inch display as the iPhone or probably slightly bigger that tops at 5 inches.

Microsoft naturally hasn’t provided any confirmation yet, so we do advise to take this bit of information with a dash of salt. But with a live unit out there somewhere, the handset’s announcement seems imminent and all we have to do is wait.

It’s been months since we heard of any juicy rumors surrounding any particular handset or device. After all, the past few months were jam-packed with device launches from IFA and individual releases from Nokia, Oppo and HTC to name a few. So at this point in time, we’re just about ready to hear more news about devices scheduled to go official next year.

On one hand, there’s the second generation Moto E, which according to a Greek website will be released soon. The phone is expected to have a 5-inch display with 960x540 resolution, a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and LTE connectivity.

Information about the chip isn’t specified yet, but it will likely have a Qualcomm chip probably a Snapdragon 400 or a new model with a quad-core CPU clocked at least 1.2GHz and 1GB of RAM. Naturally, the phone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

Another second generation device purportedly coming in the next few months is the successor of the OnePlus One. The phone is expected to launch by Q3 of next year, but surprisingly, an online store in China has already listed the phone on its website, putting up some of its specs along the way.

The handset will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chip, a 5.5-inch display, 32GB of internal storage, a 5MP selfie camera, 16MP rear camera and a 3300mAh battery. The listing price for the OnePlus Two is $551.99. However, do note that OnePlus hasn’t confirmed anything about the device yet, so it’s best to take this information with caution.

It’s been a while since our last rumour meals, but now we’re bringing it back fresh with news from Motorola and the rumoured Nexus phone along with the upcoming Motorola Moto S.

First up is the Nexus 6 which will allegedly go official next month. The leaked image from 9to5Google shows a device that looks similar to the recently announced Moto X with almost identical specs to the said Motorola flagship model including a Snapdragon 805 chip with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage.
The display is 5.95 inches in the diagonal and sports a QHD resolution with a screen density of 498ppi. There’s also a 13MP 4K-capable snapper at the back, a 2MP unit up front and a 3200mAh battery.

Then there’s the Moto S, the bigger brother of the Moto X and Moto G. Based on a leaked image of the handset’s back cover compared side by side with the 2014 edition of the Moto G and Moto X, it looks like the Moto S will sport a 5.9-inch display.
There are no details about the Moto S’ specs yet so we can’t be absolutely sure about the credibility of this leak. For now, we might just have to wait until next month for Motorola’s announcement.

Nokia’s jumping into the selfie bandwagon with an upcoming smartphone that is expected to be the successor of 2013’s Lumia 720 – the Lumia 730.
The device has been previously codenamed as the “Superman” and boasts a 4.7-inch display with HD resolution, a 2000mAh battery, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
At the back of the phone is a 6.5MP camera with flash while at the selfie camera at the front has a 5MP snapper. As shown on the leaked image, the Lumia 730 will run on a version of Windows Phone called Lumia Debian Red, which is possibly a codename for Nokia’s next Windows Phone update following cyan.
There’s no word yet on when the Finnish company will announce the handset but given images of a functional device has already surfaced, we don’t expect it will take that long. There’s also a rumoured Lumia 830 that has been seen just a few weeks ago.

Nokia has been making a lot of people scratch their heads lately. Not only did the Finnish company undergo an acquisition by Microsoft, but it also started producing Android phones.

Now, rumor has it that the company is egging another surprise in the form of Android-driven Lumia phones. The rumor was courtesy of popular tipster @evleaks through his Twitter account.

Nokia’s line of Lumia phones has always been powered by Microsoft’s Windows Phone, which is the reason why the company introduced the X-line of smartphones. However, it could be related to the recent branding that was seen on the alleged Lumia 830 that shows a “Nokia by Microsoft” branding.

And although @evleaks has a stellar reputation when it comes to having inside information, it’s still quite peculiar for Microsoft to get invested on Android. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how things will push through.
