After experiencing a short leak, Microsoft
has made official Xbox Fitness for its newest generation gaming console, the
Xbox One.
The service is designed to utilize the
capabilities of the new Kinect and employs the services of various professional
trainers to give gamers an instant and personalized feedback based on the
user’s workout, which can last from 10 to 60 minutes.
Xbox Fitness uses the Kinect to track the
gamer’s heart rate by tracking several factors including which muscles are most
engaged in the body, measuring the power, force and transfer of weight in the
body, balance, tempo and form.
Aside from tracking the gamer’s performance, the service will also show what the most popular workouts are for other users of the services and will be able to use performance stats to challenge friends or compare them with other users.
Xbox Fitness will initially be available
for free to all Xbox Live Gold users until December 2014, but it’s expected
that after that Microsoft will start charging users for the service.
