Fujifilm released this week an update to its 2014 premium interchangeable camera lens model – the X-T1. For its 2015 model, the Japanese manufacturer has decided to add an extra digit in the model number and a number of new improvements to the already impressive specs of the outgoing model.

Just like its predecessor, the X-T10 sports premium styling and materials including die-cut magnesium parts and precision-milled aluminium dials. There’s also a 3-inch 920k-dot LCD monitor at the back that can be adjusted for improved shooting flexibility. There’s also a pop-up flash located at the center of the top plate and features a Super Intelligent flash that automatically adjusts light output according to the scene type.

The X-T10 also features a real-time view finder that displays images at 0.62x magnification and 0.005 seconds lag time, thanks to its 2.36 million-dot organic EL screen.

As for the internals, the camera is packing a 16MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor and is complimented by an EXR II image processor and a high-performance Fujinon X-mount lens. The X-T10 also features a new autofocus system comprised of a standard 49-point single point mode for high-speed focusing and a new Wide/Tracking mode that uses a 77-point area.

Moreover, the camera uses Eye Detection AF that allows the device to automatically detect and focus on human eyes. Naturally, Fujifilm has added a number of software-based photo-enhancers and modes including Film Simulation mode and a variety of filters.

There’s no word yet on availability, but it’s likely to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor in terms of pricing, which is around $1300 during launch.

We’ve already seen several Fujifilm camera models in the past and all of them have one thing in common – that iconic retro design. This week the Japanese camera manufacturer has added a new model to its lineup that features this retro design coupled with new imaging technology including Wi-Fi and an EVF.

The Fujifilm X30 is meant to replace one of the company’s best-selling point-and-shoot cameras, the X20. Just like its predecessor, the X30 also bears that vintage look with its crimpled leather texture and metal components. The camera is packing a 12MP 2/3-inch X-Trans II CMOS sensor complemented by a 28-112mm equivalent f/2.0-2.8 lens and an EXR Processor II imaging engine.

The company claims the X30 has the fastest autofocus speeds of any camera at 0.0 seconds. It also has a startup time of 0.5 seconds, a shutter time lag of 0.01 seconds and a shooting interval of 0.35 seconds.

At the back, you will find a 3.0-inch 920k-dot LCD monitor which can be tilted to suit a photographer’s needs. There’s also a new 2.36M-dot, 0.65 magnification OLED viewfinder with a 0.005-second lag time. The X30 also comes with a manual zoom and control ring as well as two dials and six function buttons for better and more convenient fiddling of controls.

Lastly, the X30 also comes with Wi-Fi, an improved battery that is capable of shooting approximately 470 photos on one charge and a new “Classic Chrome” setting that promises muted tones and deep color reproduction.

The Fujifilm X30 will be available this September for around $600 in either black or silver.

Fujifilm has stayed true to its word when it announced today its latest ILC offering – the X-T1, which was shown last week as a teaser image on the company’s X-series mini site.

The Fujifilm X-T1 boasts a durable die-cast magnesium body with dust and water resistant features. The camera has approximately 80 points of water sealing that ensures users of worry-free use on moist and dusty environments. It is also freeze resistant up to -10 degrees Celsius and packs a tempered glass panel to protect its LCD panel from the elements.

The camera also incorporates the company’s newly developed electronic viewfinder (EVF) that features high magnification ratio and fast display speed. The camera’s viewfinder offers wide-angle views (diagonal 38° and horizontal 31°), the world’s highest viewfinder magnification ratio at 0.77x and a display speed with a lag time of around 0.005 seconds.

Aside from a weatherproof body and fast EVF, the X-T1 also features a newly designed graphic user interface (GUI) on the viewfinder that provides a new shooting experience with easy-to-read information about the camera’s current settings.

The X-T1 also uses Fujifilm’s X-Trans II sensor that is able to correct and enhance images even without the use of an Optical Low Pass filter. Moreover, it uses a Lens Modulation Optimizer for interchangeable lens cameras in order to further improve image quality.

The camera also prides itself with its fast autofocusing system thanks to its sensor and EXR Processor II working together that enable the camera to focus in under 0.08 seconds, start-up at 0.5 seconds, reduce shutter time lag to 0.05 seconds and lower shooting interval in MF mode to 0.5 seconds.

Fujifilm has also added a number of enhanced wireless functions including a free Camera remote application and Wireless Communication function (via Wi-Fi) that allows users to remotely shoot images from smartphones and tablets.

On top of it all, the X-T1 will come with a multitude of optional accessories including a vertical battery grip, four dedicated flash models, a leather case, hand grip, M Mound Adapter for additional lens compatibility, protector filters, remote release, stereo microphone, DC coupler, AC adapter and three new weatherproof lenses to complement its rugged nature.

The Fujifilm X-T1 is expected to ship starting February for $1300.

Fujifilm has long been in the industry of manufacturing cameras for as long as any of us can remember, but it isn’t exactly the go-to brand for most photographers (amateur and professional alike) if they’re looking for new photo gear.

But it doesn’t mean that the company should just stop innovating. In fact, Fujifilm has just posted a teaser image of its upcoming camera on its X-series micro site.

Details about the camera is still pretty scarce, but judging from the teaser image, the new model will have an extra dial for controlling ISO, in addition to the shutter speed and exposure dials seen on previous X-series cameras. There are also rumors that this upcoming camera will have some sort of weatherproofing.

The teaser image pegs January 28th as the date of announcement for the camera so we don’t need to wait that long for complete details about it to go public.

Japanese camera and imaging company Fujifilm went all out at this year’s CES in Las Vegas by announcing four new cameras and a new lens for its SLR range. The new products include two new waterproof cameras, a new bridge camera and a capable point and shoot model.

Leading the announcements is the Finepix S8600. The camera is available in Black, White or Red and features a three-step collapsible 36x Fujinon zoom lens (25-900mm in 35mm equivalent). It also comes with the company’s lens shift Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) that helps reduce blur as well as Fujifilm’s Intelligent Digital Zoom technology to enhance the zoom up to 72x.

Moreover, the S8600 has a fast autofocus (startup time of 1.7 seconds and shooting interval of 1.3 seconds). It also has a Scene Recognition Auto mode that allows the camera to automatically adjust settings based on the detected conditions.

The Fujifilm Finepix S8600 is capable of capturing 720p videos at 30 frames per second in cinematic widescreen 16:9 format. It also provides users with several creative effects and provides advanced camera users with full manual control with P, S and M shooting modes.

At the back of the camera rests the 3-inch LCD monitor with 460k dots. The S8600 is powered by three AA alkaline batteries which can last for about 250 shots.

Another bridge camera that was introduced during the event is the weather resistant FinePix S1.

The FinePix S1 has a weather resistant lens and body with 70 sealed areas. It features a wide 50x optical zoom lens range (24-1200mm in 35mm equivalent) and an additional Super Macro mode that provides flexibility to users in terms of shooting styles. The lens is composed of 13 elements in 11 groups and achieves high quality images thanks to reduced aberration.

Moreover, the lens’s multi-layer Super EBC coating technology helps reduce ghosting and flare even in photos shot in non-optimal conditions. The S1 also comes with a newly developed noise reduction system combined with the camera’s 1/ 2.3-inch 16.4MP backlit CMOS sensor. The new multi-CPU design of the S1 also improves the AF speed, startup time and shooting interval.

In terms of video capture, the S1 is capable of full HD video recording thanks to its newly developed optical and electronic 5-axis Image Stabilization. Fujifilm has also added a Movie Trimming and Movie Join feature to enable in-camera editing.

Lastly, The FinePix S1 features Wi-Fi connectivity. And with the use of the Fujifilm Camera Remote app, users can use their smart devices as remote shutter for the camera.

Other notable features of the S1 include a 920k-dot EVF, Focus Peak Highlight function that emphasizes the subject outline and other high contrast areas, RAW mode, custom settings aside from the usual P,A,S and M functions, multiple aspect ratios setting, 10 artistic effects and Motion Panorama 360 mode to name a few.

Also on Fujifilm’s menu this week is the FinePix XP70 point and shoot camera. The XP70 is a weatherproof device able to withstand water up to 10 meters, is shockproof up to 1.5 meters, dustproof and is freezeproof up to -10 degrees Celsius.

It features a double click mechanism to protect its internals from accidental opening. Just like the S1, it also has Wi-Fi connectivity for easy image sharing via its built-in Smartphone Send function.

The XP70 has a 1/ 2.3-inch 16.4MP CMOS sensor, a 5x optical zoom lens that includes a 28mm (35mm equivalent) wide-angle setting. The zoom range can be doubled using Fujifilm’s Intelligent Digital Zoom technology. The camera is also capable of capturing full HD movies at 380 frames per second.

And just like the two cameras mentioned above, the XP70 comes with a number of advanced filter functions as well as some other nifty features including Scene Recognition feature and multi-frame processing for capturing images through HDR mode.

The LCD display at the back of the camera also features an anti-reflective coating so users can easily view or compose images in different weather conditions.

Last on the camera announcements is the Fujifilm X100S.

This retro-looking camera is equipped with a 23mm F2 Fujinon fixed single focal length lens coupled with a 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor as well as a Hybrid viewfinder that allows users to switch between an EVF and a traditional optical viewfinder.
