Fujifilm’s X-series has made a name for itself for combining classic styling with cutting edge imaging technology. Today, the company is adding a new member to its line of X cameras with the X-M1 compact system camera (CSC).

The X-M1 features a 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor which is complemented by an EXR Processor II. The camera is also quick on the draw with a start-up time of just 0.5 seconds, a shutter lag of 0.05 seconds and a maximum burst speed of 5.6 frames per second.

The X-M1 is designed for one-handed shooting (specifically for right-handed photographers) with its adjustment buttons and dials placed on the right hand side of the camera for easy access. There’s also a tiltable 3-inch LCD at the back with a resolution of 920,000 dots and a built-in flash with a guide number of 7 is included.

The camera is also equipped with Wi-Fi and can transfer images to a smartphone or tablet with a help of a free downloadable app. Fujifilm has also thrown in an Autosave PC function that automatically transfer images across to a PC on the same wireless network for easy backup.


The X-M1 also comes equipped with a number of software improvements and features including Film Simulation modes designed to replicate the look of classic analogue film stock such as Velvia and Provia as well as other digital filters.

Fujifilm is also launching number of lenses alongside the X-M1. This include the 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lens which offers an equivalent of 24-76mm in 35mm terms; and 27mm f/2.8 (41mm in 35mm terms) pancake type lens that weighs only 78g and measures only 33mm.
