Acer’s Switch duo will be turning into a trio really soon as
the company just announced a 12-inch version that will join the 10- and 11-inch
versions by next year. However, unlike the current models in the Switch range,
the Acer Aspire Switch 12 will be having a fifth mode much like that of Toshiba’s
Kirabook L93 that we saw at this year’s Computex.
Apart from the traditional laptop and tablet mode, tent mode
and presentation mode, the Switch 12 will have a display mode and an inclined
tablet mode where the keyboard is detached.
The convertible will be powered by Intel’s new Core M
processors and will have either 60GB or 120GB SSD. The 12-inch display will
have Full HD resolution and there’s enough juice in its battery to last for
about 8 hours. I/O ports include a micro-HDMI video output and micro-USB 3.0.
Unfortunately, we’ve heard that the Switch 12 will only be
offered in North America next year, though we can’t help but hope that Acer
will make this tablet available in other markets. There’s also no specific info
on pricing yet but it’s likely that it will be offered in the same price range
as its older siblings.
