Lenovo is indeed pushing the boundaries for tablets with its
kickstand-packing Yoga slates. Yesterday, the company announced a 13-inch
version of its Yoga Tablet 2 that packs Windows 8 and a separate keyboard that
turns the device into a pseudo-laptop.
The tablet sports a 13.3-inch display with QHD resolution (2560
x 1440) and up to 178-degree viewing angles. Performance is supplied by an
Intel Atom quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that
can be expanded via a microSD card.
There’s also Bluetooth 4, Wi-Fi 802.11n, micro-HDMI and
micro-USB ports, a 1.6MP webcam and a 12,800mAh battery, which according to Lenovo
should give the Yoga Tablet 2 with 15 hours-worth of battery. The separate
keyboard connects to the tablet via Bluetooth and clamps into the hinge of the
tablet, though it can also be used while it’s detached from the device.
Just like its smaller siblings, this Yoga tablet has four
usability modes including the new hang-mode. Other notable features of the
slate include an integrated microphone, premium JBL large-chamber stereo
speakers with sub-woofer and a free one-month trial to MS Office 365.
The tablet will go on sale this November with a suggested
retail price of $699.
