Computex was also the venue where Asus announced its top
tier devices – the Zenbook NX500 and the Transformer Book V.
First one up is the Zenbook NX500 – a premium Ultrabook
laptop crafted from aluminium and offers superb performance through top of the
line components. The laptop is powered by latest generation Intel Core i7
processor complemented by up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of SSD.
The graphics is handled by an Nvidia GeForce GTX 850M which
is delivered through a 15.6-inch IPS Ultra HD display. The NX500 will be
running Windows 8.1 and will be powered by a 6-cell, 96Whrs battery.
Then there’s the Transformer Book V which has the ability to
turn into five different machines. Asus has combined all of its innovative products
into one super device that can transform into a tablet, a laptop and a
smartphone and can run both Windows 8.1 and Android.
The Transformer Book V will be composed of three devices,
the laptop-tablet hybrid that runs on Windows 8.1 and a smartphone that runs on
Android 4.4 KitKat. The notebook-tablet has a 12.5-inch IPS display, Intel
Graphics card and Intel Core processor, 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of flash storage which can be coupled
with a 1TB 7mm hard drive, an HD camera and a 2cell-28WH battery.
The phone component on the other hand runs on Intel Atom
quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. The phone has
a 5-inch IPS HD display with Intel HD graphics.
There will also be an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing
snapper, as well as a 2550mAh battery. The device will run on Android 4.4
KitKat with Asus’ Zen UI on top. The handset plugs in to the back of the
laptops display and its Android interface is displayed within Windows 8.
