Aside from the announcement of the Transformer Book T300 Chi and the Transformer Pad
TF303CL, Asus has also introduced the MeMo Pad ME581CL and its two new Fonepads – the Fonepad FE380CG
and Fonepad FE375CG.
The MeMo Pad ME581CL is an 8-inch tablet that runs on
Android 4.4 KitKat. The tablet’s IPS panel offers WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200
pixels) with 10-point multi-touch input, anti-fingerprint coating and palm
rejection. Under the hood is an Intel Atom chip with a 2.3GHz quad-core
processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of internal storage and a PowerVR Series 6
GPU.
The tablet also boasts a 5MP+1.2MP camera combo plus the
usual mix of connectivity features such as Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0, Cat 4 LTE
and NFC. Asus has also incorporated a number of sensors to the MeMo pad
including an accelerometer, light sensor, e-compass, gyroscope and a hall
sensor.
Asus has packed a 15.2Wh Li-polymer battery into the MeMo
pad that should last for 9 hours on a single charge.
Meanwhile, the Fonepad FE380CG and FE375CG are almost
identical tablets with the exception of the display size, which are at 8 and 7
inches respectively.
The internals are the same with a 64-bit Intel Atom chipset
with a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB/16GB of internal storage and
a PowerVR G6430 GPU. Both tablets will have a 5MP+2MP camera combo, and the
same types of sensors as with the MeMo Pad 8.
Unfortunately, the tablets will only come with 3G
connectivity. Both models will have 10 hours of battery life thanks to their
15.2Wh Li-polymer battery.
Lastly, Asus will also be providing 5GB worth of Asus Web
Storage and an additional 11GB for the first year, in case the built-in storage
options for the three tablets is not enough.
