Sony’s second-generation Xperia ZL makes its debut in the
company’s homeland – Japan. The ZL2 similar to its predecessor is posed as a
more affordable version of Sony’s flagship smartphone – the Xperia
Z2.
The phablet is built around a 5.0-inch Full HD display with
Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine 2 and X-reality technology. It also packs a
Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, 3GB of RAM and
32GB of expandable memory. However, unlike the Xperia Z2, this handset won’t have IP58 certification. So users won’t be able to take it for a swim.
At the back of the device is a 20.7MP snapper that is
capable of recording 4K video. There’s also Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and
NFC. The phone will be powered by a 3000mAh battery and will run on Android 4.4
KitKat with Sony’s Xperia UI on top.
The phone will be available in different colour options
including white, black and turquoise. There’s no word yet on pricing and
availability but we don’t expect Sony to hold out for too long since it’s
already coming to Japan.
