Samsung has recently announced the latest addition to its premium A-series in China – the 6-inch Galaxy A9. The handset has been in rumor land for quite some time now, and now the Korean tech giant has decided to finally clear things up.
The device’s display is of the AMOLED variety with Full HD resolution. Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 652 chipset with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.
There’s also a 32MP camera at the back with optical image stabilization and an f/1.9 aperture lens. On the other hand, the front of the device is graced by an 8MP snapper with the same f/1.9 aperture lens.
At the back, the Galaxy A9 sports a large 4000mAh battery that supports QuickCharge. Other notable features of the device include a fingerprint sensor that supports Samsung Pay, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, NFC and Android 5.1 out of the box.
There’s no word yet on pricing and availability.
Samsung’s upper tier smartphone line – the A-series has just
received a major refresh today with the announcement of the new A7, A5 and A3.
By the looks of it, the Korean tech firm is finally embracing the metal and
glass design language it has employed in its flagship models and bringing it to
the A-series.
The largest of the trio is of course the Galaxy A7 sporting
a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED 1080p screen. The A7 has 3GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable
internal storage and a 3300mAh battery.
There’s a 13MP camera at the back with f/1.9 aperture and
optical image stabilization. The front camera also has an f/1.9 aperture though
it has 8MP less than the one at the front. A fingerprint sensor is also on the
A7’s specs sheet.
Connectivity-wise, the A7 has room for two SIM cards in some
markets and comes with Cat 6 LTE connectivity.
A notch down, we have the Galaxy A5. Like the A7, it also
has Full HD resolution though the screen size is slightly smaller at 5 inches.
There’s 2GB of RAM, 16B of internal storage, an octa-core processor and a
2900mAh battery.
Samsung has used the same 13MP+5MP camera combo as in the A7
as well as the fingerprint reader that supports Samsung Pay.
Finally, there’s the Galaxy A3. It’s the smallest of the
bunch with its 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolution. It has a
quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
It uses the same 13MP+5MP camera combo as in the earlier
models and also comes with LTE connectivity (though not as fast as the other
two). Its power source is a 2300mAh battery and unlike the A7 and A5, this one
doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor.
Pricing and shipping dates are not available yet.
Samsung’s love affair with the flip phone continues up to
this day in some parts of the world. In fact, a new flip phone just passed
TENAA, the telecomm equipment center in China.
The phone which currently runs by the name SM-W2106 is quite
a powerhouse with an octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
According to the paperwork, the phone will have two 3.9-inch screens (1280 x
768 pixels in terms of resolution) on both sides of the flip segment.
In the camera department, the phone has an 8MP sensor at the
back and a front-facing 5MP snapper. As a flip phone, the device will of course
sport a T9 keypad.
We don’t have much information yet with regards to other
features of the phone but we’ll likely see the device announce initially in
China or Korea.

Battery is rated at 2000mAh battery and is expected to sell for a jaw-dropping $1,565. The phone will be offered in two color options: grey and gold, and will only be offered (at least initially in China via China Mobile).

Samsung’s budget-oriented smartphone line has just welcomed a new
member that’s heading to the Indian market in the coming weeks. The company’s
Galaxy J2 is the newest addition to the Galaxy J family and will ship with improved
specs compared to its predecessors.
For starters, the J2 will have a 4.7-inch qHD Super AMOLED
panel, an Exynos 3475 chipset with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
The phone also comes with a 2000mAh battery, a 5MP camera at the back with an
f/2.2 aperture lens, a 2MP selfie snapper with an f/2.4 lens and dual-SIM
functionality.
The handset also comes with a special feature called Ultra
Data Saving mode. The said feature is said to allow the device to save up to
50% on data costs, free up to 11% of the phone’s memory and extend the battery
life.
The phone will be available starting September 21st
and will be sold for $125.
At the recently concluded Samsung unpacked event, the Korean
manufacturer announced its two newest flagship models – the Galaxy S6+ and its
Galaxy Note5. The two new models follow the design language utilized on the
recently released Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge which features metal and glass in its
construction.
First, there’s the Galaxy Note5, which features a 5.7-inch
display of the Super AMOLED type with QHD resolution. Digging deep, you’ll find
an Exynos 7420 chipset with 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of non-expandable
storage.
The camera is the same as the one on the Galaxy S6 – a 16MP
sensor with a wide f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization. There’s also
auto real-time HDR, support for 2160p video recording as well as live streaming
Full HD videos to YouTube. On the front, there’s a 5MP snapper with a
wide-angle lens for all those selfies.
Samsung has also improved on audio and its S-Pen stylus. The
Note5 has Ultra High quality audio that works even over Bluetooth especially
with Samsung’s Level
On headphones. As for the S-Pen, the stylus now has a spring mechanism and
works even when the screen is turned off via the “Draw” feature.
There’s also an updated fingerprint sensor at the back that
provides an extra layer of security and a way to authenticate users to secure
transactions (via Samsung Pay), a 3000mAh battery that supports fast charging, NFC,
Wireless charging (supports both Qi and PMI) Bluetooth and of course Wi-Fi.
The phone will be available in the coming weeks in three
color options: Black Sapphire, White Pearl, Gold Platinum and Silver titanium.
There’s no word yet on pricing but Samsung will likely announce it before the
phone is shipped.
Just like in the launch of the S6, the Galaxy Note5 was
launched alongside a curved edge variant. However, this time, it’s not going to
be a Note5 Edge, but rather it will be called the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
The phone’s internals are identical to the Note5, but on the
outside, it does boast that curved edges. Samsung has also improved this
feature by making it as a secondary app launcher as opposed to just a place for
your fave contacts.
The Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be available starting August 21st
in the US in the same color options as the Note5. Again, there are no words yet
on final pricing, but as these are flagship models, we do expect them to cost
north of $600.
Barely a week after releasing its new Galaxy S2 tablets,
Samsung has now unveiled another tablet – the Galaxy Tab A Plus, which is
intended as an upgrade to the Korean manufacturer’s mid-range
slate unveiled back in March.
The new tablet sports a 9.7-inch display with a resolution
of 1024x768 pixels. Inside the device is a Ziilabs ZMS-08 chipset with a 1.2GHz
quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. There’s a 5MP
camera at the back of the device which is capable of capturing HD videos while
there’s a 2MP sensor at the front for selfies and video calls.
Samsung has also equipped the tablet with a 6000mAh battery,
Wi-Fi b/g/n and an S Pen stylus. The Galaxy Tab A Plus will run on Android 5.0
Lollipop with TouchWiz UI on top and will be sold for $372 in either sandy
white or sandy black color.
There’s no word yet on when Samsung plans to ship the tablet
but the device is already listed on the company’s Belgium-France website.
