Dell has long been in the business of providing companies with computers for their various processes with their OptiPlex line. This week, Dell announced several new products to its enterprise level offerings including a number of desktop models and a big-screened all-in-one model.

According to Dell, the new OptiPlex models are set to provide significant improvements over their predecessors in the form of better hardware, more specifically better processors, up to double the memory and storage capacity, reduced power consumption and decreased system noise.

The new OptiPlex units come with improved specs including 6^th generation Intel processors, up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Some of models in the line feature large displays with support for 4K resolution, while some come with special software that’s designed for specialized industries.

New Dell OptiPlex Desktops Optimize the Modern Workplace

With these performance gains and new features, OptiPlex desktops are playing a new role in a world that is highly mobile. For example, the portfolio includes a new collaboration and conferencing solution utilizing the OptiPlex 7040 Micro with 6th Gen Intel Core vPro processor technology and Intel Unite software to deliver simple, instant and secure collaboration and meeting capabilities through wireless connectivity. Wyse 5050 AIO Zero Client: High Performance and Elegant Design

The Wyse 5050 AIO zero client is designed for VMware environments and provides the robust security businesses require with a zero attack surface for viruses and malware.

• The new OptiPlex 7000 Series, 5000 Series and Micro PC with Intel Unite are available today. The OptiPlex 3000 series will be available in November 2015.

While other companies strive to get something new and different in the market, Lenovo is entrusting its year on to products with a proven track record. The Taiwanese tech giant has just recently announced several updates to a number of its products at this year’s CES in Las Vegas.

Let’s start things off with the company’s flagship business notebook – the ThinkPad Carbon X1. Fans of the ThinkPad brand will be very delighted that Lenovo is pushing back the physical function and touchpad buttons that were taken out from last year’s model. As with the 2014 version of the Carbon X1, this year’s version is still lined with top tech.

The X1 Carbon can come with an optional 2560 x 1440 touchscreen panel, Intel’s latest generation Core processors, 4GB or 8GB of RAM, up to 360GB SSD or up to 512GB PCIe-based SSD and even an LTE radio.

The entire package costs a hefty $1,249 and will be available starting this month for consumers in the United States.

Those looking for a cheaper ThinkPad will also be happy that Lenovo has brought some goodies to other members of the range.

For starters, there are the ThinkPad X250 and T450 which are meant to replace the X240 and T440s from last year. The X240 features a 12.5-inch panel and uses Intel’s new Broadwell processors and Lenovo’s Power Bridge technology that allows users to hot swap a battery even without powering down. Just like the Carbon X1, the X240 can be customized with a number of options including a choice of spinning, hybrid or Solid State drives and an optional backlit keyboard.

The T450s on the other hand offers a slightly bigger display at 14 inches that can come with different resolutions and an option for a touchscreen. It also packs 5^th-generation Intel Core I processors, both HDD and SSD storage options and up to 12GB of RAM.

If you want something bigger, you can opt for the ThinkPad T550 which tops at a screen size of 15.6 inches with a maximum resolution of 2880 x 1620. Again, the notebook can be configured based on a user’s preference.

The ThinkPad X250 will also be available starting this month for customers in the United States for $749, while the T450s and T550 will retail for $1099 and $999 respectively.

Finally, Lenovo is also introducing the ThinkVision X24 at the event. Measuring 23.8 inches on the diagonal, the company’s newest IPS monitor features Full HD resolution and comes with wide viewing angles that reach up to 178-degrees.

It also packs an ultra-slim design with a waistline of just 7.5mm, which is complimented by a borderless and ultra-light frame. As for the rest of the specs, the ThinkVision has a 16:9 aspec ration, 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 3M:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Lenovo is expected to ship the monitor by May for $249.

It has always been an employer dilemma to get their employees out of Facebook during work hours, which has forced some companies to block the social networking site on their computers. But it could all change as rumors are circulating that the social networking giant is currently working on a “Facebook at Work” enterprise solution that could roll out in the next couple of months.

Naturally, Facebook has given any comment on the rumor, though according to reports, the company is already using the new product in its office in California for collaborative work. Furthermore, there have been reports saying that Facebook has asked a small group of companies to test the product.

TechCrunch has also reported that Facebook at Work will be hosted separately from the private/personal Facebook to ensure security between the two versions and that no information from either side spills into the other.

Ideally, the new tool will look similar to a user’s personal Facebook page including its news feed, Messenger and Groups. This could mean that users might have to login to a separate website in order to access the new collaboration tool or they could use a different login for the work account.

For now, Facebook hasn’t given any workable details yet on how the new tool will look and function. So, we just might have to wait a few weeks more for an official announcement from Menlo. What do you think?
