A new Panasonic phone has emerged in India that’s specifically aimed for enterprise users.

The smartphone has a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and comes with support for Enterprise Mobility Management platform (EMM) Android for Work.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 615 chipset with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. There’s also a 13MP camera at the back as well as a 5MP selfie camera at the front. A 2500mAh battery provides the juice to power the device while Android 5.1 Lollipop with Panasonic’s FitHome UI takes care off the operating system.

A fingerprint scanner is also located at the back, which should provide the primary security function to allow users to securely access EMM.

The phone will be offered in two color options: Royal Gold or Metallic Grey and will cost around $180 in India.

Panasonic’s Tough line has always been known for its durability and ruggedness. The company is now introducing a 2-in-1 detachable convertible that bears the Tough line’s moniker – the Windows 10-powered ToughBook 20.

Contrary to its name, this ToughBook sports a 10.1-inch display, which has a WUXGA resolution. The innards is composed of an Intel Core m5-6757 processor that can be clocked up to 2.8GHz, 8GB of RAM and 128GB SSD that can be upgraded up to 512GB.

As to be expected from a ToughBook, the convertible has MIL-STD-810G and IP65 certification, which means its water, dust, freeze and shock proof. The device also takes the design aesthetics of previous of Tough models before it, which includes a magnesium alloy chassis that’s encased with ABS and “elastomer” edges.

The display has 800-nits of brightness and features anti-reflective and anti-glare treatments. In terms of ports, the ToughBook 20 has a number of outlets that are scattered between the keyboard dock and the main unit including USB, a microSDXC reader, HDMI, Ethernet, a headphone/speaker combo port, a micro-SIM (for the optional LTE) and a VGA port to name a few.

The ToughBook 20 weighs around 3.9 lbs and will be available by February 2016 for around $3099.

Panasonic’s Eluga line isn’t what you’ll call a blockbuster product. In fact the market presence of Panasonic smartphones is barely existent in some markets and yet the company is still not giving up on its game. Panasonic just unveiled three new Eluga models in India – the Eluga L2, Eluga I2 and Eluga T45.

The biggest of the bunch is the Eluga L2 with its 5.5-inch display. It sports a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. The phone also features an 8MP+2MP camera and a 2500mAh battery.

Panasonic will be offering the Eluga L2 in only two colors – sand grey and midnight black and will cost around $222.

Meanwhile, the Eluga I2 will sport a 5-inch HD panel with an 8MP+2MP camera combo, a 1GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, the same 8GB of expandable storage as the L2 and a 2000mAh battery. The Eluga I2 will be offered in three color options – metallic silver, metallic gold and metallic grey for $20 less than the L2.

Finally, there’s he Eluga T45, a 4.5-inch display. The camera and battery is a watered down version of the earlier devices, specifically a 5MP+VGA combo and 1800mAh respectively. In terms of internals, it has the same 1GB RAM and 1GHz quad-core processor as the Eluga I2. The handset will be priced at $155 in India.

Panasonic has just announced two new cameras this week as an update to its GX and FZ camera line. The GX8 will be replacing the outgoing GX7 from two years ago while the FZ3000 will succeed the FZ1000 from last year.

The Lumix GX8 will be Panasonic’s flagship compact camera system and features a 20.3MP Digital Live MOS Sensor that works with a Venus Engine imaging processor. The camera’s ISO range goes up to 25,600 and supports 4K video recording both at 24fps and 30fps.

It also has a dual image stabilizer, features high-speed burst shooting modes at 8fps and 6ps, NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity. The camera also comes with a 3-inch LCD monitor that swings outward and swivels to give photographers more flexibility. And just like the GX7, this model also packs an articulating electronic viewfinder.

The GX8 will come in either black of silver and will be available in August for around $1200 body only.

Now, for those looking for a camera with more serious zoom power, Panasonic’s FZ3000 might be the one for you. The camera has a 24x optical zoom and is capable of capturing 4K video at both 24fps and 30fps.

At the heart of the FZ3000 is a 12.1MP high sensitivity MOS sensor with the same Venus Engine image processor as the GX8. The camera’s light sensitivity tops at 6400 ISO and the lens that’s permanently mounted into the FZ3000 is a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 24mm lens with an f/2.8 aperture.

The Panasonic Lumix FZ3000 will be available by October for around $600.

Panasonic is going back to the smartphone arena this year with its new CM1 Lumix smartphone, which was announced recently in Germany at Photokina 2014.

Looking at the back of the handset, the CM1 looks like a slim Lumix point and shoot camera with a huge protruding lens. The back cover of the smartphone bears the textured leather finish used in most compact cameras. The phone uses a 1-inch 20MP sensor with f/2.8 Leica lens. The device is also capable of recording 4K video at 15fps and Full HD clips at 30 fps.
Flipping the device over, you’ll see a 4.7-inch 1080p display. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 801 chip with a 2.3GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. Other notable features of the CM1 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, LTE Cat 4 connectivity and a 2600mAh battery.

Panasonic is targeting the affluent market for the CM1 by offering the handset for around €899 by November or more than $1000 at current exchange rates. There’s also no word on international availability yet.

If you think that the Samsung NX1 is still a bit bulky for your taste, you should definitely consider Panasonic’s newly announced Lumix LX100.

The camera boasts a 12.8MP sensor with an 24-75mm f/1.7-2.8 aperture lens. The LX100’s lens is composed of five aspherical lenses including two ED lens elements. It has a maximum ISO range of 25600 and is capable of recording UHD video at 30 fps in mp4 format. It is also capable of recording Full HD clips at 60fps in AVCHD Progressive or MP4 format.
At the back of the camera is a 2764-dot LCD electronic viewfinder with 0.7x equivalent magnification and a 3-inch display that is unfortunately, non-touch. The LX100 also features two dials at the top for basic modes and exposure settings. Other notable features of the LX100 include built-in Wi-Fi and NFC as well as in-camera Raw conversion.

The camera doesn’t have a built-in flash, but does have a hot shoe on which other accessories can be connected. Panasonic will start shipping the LX100 by November for $899.

Panasonic today announced the newest member of its FZ line – the FZ1000 that brings 4K video recording to non-DSLR cameras.

The camera comes with a 1-inch 20.1MP high-sensitivity MOS sensor that is said to be four times larger than the 1/2.3-inch sensor of its predecessor allowing the device to capture images with reduced noise. This is also partly thanks to the quad-core Venus engine processor.

The sensor is complemented by a 25mm ultra wide-angle Leica DC Vario Elmarit lens that features an aperture range of f2.8 to f4.0. It offers consumers 16x optical zoom. The device’s zooming capability is achieved through the lens’s 15 elements arranged in 11 groups that provide a smooth and even focus. Moreover, the Leica lens sports a 5-axis compensation system as well as a hybrid optical image stabilizer to suppress handshake movement in almost any direction.

But of course the main highlight of the FZ1000 would be its 4K video recording capability. The camera is able to capture QFHD (3840 x 2160) video recording at 25 frames per second in MP4 format. It can also use recorded 4K video content to extract a frame to create an 8MP photo. Users can also switch to Full HD video recording in case they happen to run out of storage space to save their high-quality content.

Panasonic has also improved the focusing speed of the FZ1000. For starters, boot up time takes only 0.66 seconds, while focus speeds range from 0.09 seconds at the wide end to 0.17 seconds at the telephoto end. High-speed burst shooting is also available at 12 frames per second. The device also uses Panasonic’s light speed autofocus and DFD (Depth from Focus) technology in order to speed up the focusing time.

At the back of the FZ1000 is a 3-inch 921k-dot free-angle LCD with a wide viewing angle that swivels 180 degrees to the side and tilts 270 degrees up and down. The screen has AR coating that minimizes reflection which maintains the screen usability even while shooting outdoors. There’s also a 0.39-inch Live View Finder (LVF) with a 2359k-dot high resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio.

Other notable features of the FZ1000 include 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity, NFC connectivity, Creative Control functionality that lets users add a variety of filters into their images, a 3cm Macro shooting mode, an Intelligent Auto Plus (iA+) mode and a level gauge that detects the horizontal and vertical orientation for better scene composition.

The Panasonic FZ1000 is expected to go on sale in July with pricing information to be released before the launch date.
