Samsung’s budget Galaxy J series is welcoming two new
members this week. The 4.3-inch Galaxy J1 will be joined by the 5.5-inch J7 and
the 5.0-inch J5 in the coming weeks.
The two new models are almost identical in terms of specs
with the exception of the display size and their chipset. The J5 is sporting a
Snapdragon 410 chip with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, while the slightly
bigger J7 will come with a Snapdragon 615 chip with an octa-core processor.
Screen resolution for the two models are the same at 720p
and both come with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. There’s a 13MP
camera at the back and a 5MP snapper on the front (with LED flash).
Connectivity-wise, the J7 and J5 are both packing LTE
connectivity and support for dual-SIM functionality. Moreover, both models are
running Android 5.1 Lollipop and will be available in three color options:
white, black and gold.
The two phones will be available in the coming weeks
initially in China for $290 and $225 for the J7 and J5 respectively. There’s no
word yet if Samsung plans to release them on other market.
