Gionee Welcomes Elife E8 and Marathon M5

Gionee is one of those smartphone makers that knows how to build smartphones with a specific niche in mind. This week, the Chinese manufacturer unveiled two new models that does exactly – the Elife E8 for flagship fans who want their phones to do everything and the Marathon M5 for people who want phone that last for days.

The Elife as we said, is a smartphone for people who want flagship specs. The handset features a 6-inch QHD display (with a pixel density of 490ppi), a MediaTek Helio X10 chip with a 2GHz octa-core processor, a PowerVR 6200 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Gionee has equipped the Elife E8 with a 24MP camera at the back that can produce images up to 120MP in resolution with the help of some software tweaks. The main camera sites behind a six-element lens with a sapphire glass front. The camera also sports optical image stabilization, dual-tone LED flash, lossless zoom and support for 4K video recording.

The Gionee Elife E8 will be available starting July 15 for around $645.

On the other hand, the Gionee Marathon M5 will come with a 5.5-inch HD panel, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. It is also equipped with a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP selfie snapper.

But of course the most important feature of the Marathon M5 would be its battery – in this case batteries. The handset has two 3010mAh batteries which bring the total power capacity of the phone to 6020mAh. The two batteries are charged at the same time using dual charging chips (much like Oppo’s VOOC charging technology) that equates to faster charging times and lower charing temperature.

Gionee has also incorporated some software management factor into the Elife E8 including background app management and smart power consumption management that should help in strengthening the phone’s battery life. This means the Elife E8 should be able to last for around four full days even when on heavy use.

The Gioneer Marathon M4 will be available starting June 25 with a suggested retail price tag of $370.
