Samsung Finally Outs Galaxy Alpha Premium Phone
Wednesday, August 13, 2014
Samsung’s long rumoured metallic handset is now official and bears the name Galaxy Alpha.
The phone is built around a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolution. It’s powered by an Exynos 5 Octa chipset composed of two quad-core processors (1.8GHz and 1.3GHz) and will come with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage.
Just like the company’s current flagship handset – the Galaxy S5, the Alpha will also have a fingerprint scanner and a heart-rate sensor. It will also come with other S5 features including its Ultra-low power mode and compatibility with the Samsung Gear smartwatches.
Samsung has put a 12MP camera at the back (although it’s not stated if it will use an ISOCELL sensor) and a 2.1MP snapper at the front. In the connectivity department, the Alpha is packing LTE Cat 6 connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v4.0.
The highlight of the phone is of course its materials. The device is bound by a metal frame while the back features the signature faux leather texture found in the Galaxy S5.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be available in several colour options including dazzling white, frosted gold, sleek silver and scuba blue. The handset is expected to start shipping by next month and will have a price tag close $690.
