Future Note Models to Pack Improved S-Pen and Eye Scanner

Samsung is allegedly heavily beefing up its Galaxy Note line with features designed to blow the competition out of the water.

The Korean tech giant has recently filed a patent in South Korea that pertains to a stylus that uses Ultrasound technology. According to the patent application, the stylus will send out ultrasound waves, which will be picked up by sensors on the side of the phone.

The use of ultrasound, should help future phone models to do away with a screen digitizer which will allow for lower costs and a thinner assembly. Apart from the improved stylus, future Note 4 models could also sport a retina scanner.

The scanner will allegedly be used for unlocking the device although it can also be used in making or receiving virtual payments much like how PayPal has utilized the fingerprint reader on the Galaxy S5 for online transactions.

Of course all these are just based on rumors, so we do suggest taking this news with a grain of salt. Samsung traditionally announces new Galaxy Note models at IFA, so we’ll just have to wait a few more weeks for the company to confirm or deny this.
