At the recently concluded Google I/O, several manufacturers including
LG, Samsung and Motorola have announced their upcoming devices that will run on
Google’s Android Wear. Surprisingly, Asus which was Google’s hardware partner
on a couple of Nexus models was nowhere in sight.
But there might be a reason why the Taiwanese manufacturer
chose not to announce anything during the search giant’s developer conference.
According to a report by TechCrunch, Asus is currently working on a smartwatch
which it will release before the end of the year and will be priced
significantly lower than those from LG, Samsung and Motorola.
Pricing for the device will reportedly be pegged between $99
and $149 upon launch. Other notable features that will allegedly make its way
into the smartwatch include gesture control and a heart rate monitor.
