Shortly after Microsoft made Windows Phone free for use to
manufacturers, we’ve seen an increase in the number of Windows-powered handsets
in the market. In fact, just a few weeks ago, we saw three new devices from Prestigio
and Yezz at Computex. This week, it’s the Chinese’s and the Romanian’s turn
to show off their Windows Phone handsets.
Let’s start things off with HiSense who has just announced
the Mira 6. The phone is built around a 5-inch HD display and sports a Qualcomm
Snapdragon 200 chip with a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 processor, an Adreno 302
GPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage.
The handset is specifically made for China Telecom and will
sport two SIM card slots, Dolby sound and 4G LTE connectivity. There’s no shipping
date and pricing information yet; and we’re not that sure if HiSense will bring
the Mira 6 outside China.
Then there’s the duo of Windows-powered devices from Romania’s
AllView – the Impera S and the Impera I smartphones.
Both phones boasts similar specs including a 1.2GHz
quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, an 8MP rear camera,
2MP front-facing camera, 3G connectivity and dual-SIM capability. The only
difference is the design and the screen size with the Impera S and Impera I
having a 5.0- and 4.7-inch HD IPS displays respectively.
Both AllView phones will be on sale starting August, with
the Impera S retailing for €170 whiel the Impera I to sell for €160.
The Romanian company is also introducing a windows 8.1
tablet – the AllView Impera I8. The slate has an 8-inch 1280 x 800-pixel IPS
display and runs on an Intel Atom Z3735E chip with a 1.33GHz 64-bit quad-core
processor and 1GB of RAM.
The tablet also comes with a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP
front-facing snapper for video calls. There’s 16GB of expandable internal
storage with a complementary 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage courtesy of Office
365. There’s no official release date yet for the AllView Impera I8, but
pricing is pegged at €194.
