Back in December of last year, former Oppo Vice President
Pete Lau put up a company called OnePlus that dreams of building the perfect
smartphone.
Its first ever creation – the One is expected to be
announced this week in China on April 23. But a few days before the said event,
information about the handset, specifically its specs were leaked.
According to reports, the high-end handset will have a
Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM,
a 5.5-inch Full HD JDI display (with a pixel density of 401ppi), 16GB-64GB of
internal memory and a 3100mAh battery.
At the back of the device is a 13MP f/2.0 Sony Exmor IMX214
camera with a 6-piece lens. The phone also features an interchangeable
StyleSwap back covers much like Motorola’s Moto X. The phone will rock a
special version of Cyanogen Mod based on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The OnePlus One will be available in 16 markets for
approximately $400. But unlike other companies who offer pre-ordering with their
products, OnePlus will employ an invite system, which it believes will ensure
that people interested with the One will get the product at 100% certainty. Invites
can be obtained through friends, in contests or on the company’s forums.
