Oppo recently lifted the curtain off two new handsets with
two very special features – the Oppo U3 with an optical zoom lens and the R1C
with a sapphire crystal back plate.
The two phones went official without too much fanfare and
Oppo wasn’t really keen on providing full details about each handset. But
nonetheless, here’s what we know about them. The Oppo U3 is built around a
5.9-inch full HD display and comes with a MediaTek octa-core processor,
Mali-T760MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
As already mentioned, the smartphone is packing a 4x optical
zoom lens that compliments the 13MP sensor at the back. The rear camera is
capable of capturing 4K video and comes with an LED flash. There’s also a 5MP
camera at the front again with flash. Other notable features of the phone
include LTE connectivity and an embedded audio chip.
Meanwhile, the Oppo R1x will feature a 5.0-inch HD display,
a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 chip with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
There’s also a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing snapper, a 2420mAh battery
and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
But of course the highlight feature of the phone is the sapphire
crystal back panel. Surprisingly, Oppo was able to maintain an affordable price
tag despite the addition of the expensive glass at $403. As for the U3, there’s
no word on pricing yet but we’ll get everyone updates once more info arrives.
UPDATE: Oppo just
announced a third smartphone called the Mirror 3 that offers 64-bit computing
for entry-level consumers.
The Mirror 3 is bearing a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chip with a
1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. The display is
4.7 inches on the diagonal and has 720p resolution and a screen density of
312ppi.
The phone also has an 8MP sensor at the back from Sony with
a fast f2.0 aperture lens and a 1.4 micron pixel size. On the front is a 5MP
snapper for selfies while power is supplied by a 2000mAh power pack.
There’s no word yet on when the phone will be available but
pricing is expected at $280.
