Another luxury carmaker is making a leap from building cars
to making expensive smartphones. Italian luxury sports car manufacturer
Lamborghini just announced its Tauri 88 Android smartphone.
The phone is built around a 5-inch display with Full HD
resolution. It also comes with a Snapdragon 801 chipset with 3GB of RAM and
64GB of expandable on-board storage. There’s also a 3400mAh battery and a 20MP+8MP
camera combo (most likely from Sony).
Of course, its status as a luxury item wouldn’t be complete
without the plethora of exquisite materials used in its construction. These
include steel (available in gold, black or plain steel colors) and leather with
various color options including black, blue, red, orange and brown complete
with decorative stitches.
Just like in the cars, the Tauri 88 will have the same
raging bull emblem at the back. The phone will be produced in limited numbers,
1947 to be exact to reflect the birth year of the man to whom the phone was
named after – Antonio “Tonino” Lamborghini who is the son of the founder of the
company.
The Tonino Lamborghini Tauri 88 will sell for $6000. There’s
no word yet on which specific countries the Italian brand will market the
phone, but as the promotional images are from a Russian site, it’s likely that
the handset will be sold there first.
