Indian smartphone maker Micromax just unveiled the Canvas
Selfie, the company’s newest smartphone model sporting a 13MP front-facing
camera which aims to target the “Selfie” segment of the market.
The handset is in direct firing range of HTC’s Desire
Eye, which was launched just last October. The device is built around a
4.7-inch display that boasts 720p resolution and is protected by a layer of
Gorilla Glass 3. Performance is supplied by a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, 2GB
of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage that can be expanded via a microSD card.
But of course the most important feature of this phone would
be its dual-13MP cameras. The main camera comes with dual-LED flash while the one
at front comes with a single LED bulb. The phone also comes with a couple of
selfie-centric apps including Eye Enhancement, Skin smoothening, teeth
whitening, Facial oil removal, make-up effects and Face Slimming options to
name a few.
Other notable specs of the handset include a 2300mAh
battery, dual-SIM card slots, 3G connectivity, Bluetooth and Android 4.4 KitKat
out of the box.
The Micromax Canvas Selfie will come out in India by the
second week of January 2015 in two colors – mystic blue and angelic white.
While pricing information aren’t yet disclosed, a recent leaked promotional
poster reveals that the Canvas Selfie might also be heading to the Philippines
as the Cherry Mobile Selfie.
