American PC maker HP’s announcements at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show centered on small form-factor PCs but more so on monitors that pack stellar resolutions. In fact, HP has introduced three monitor models that offer up to 5K resolution as well as one that offers virtual reality.

The most innovative among the bunch would have to be the HV Zvr Virtual reality display that uses a so-called zSpace technology to generate a 3D effect. The Zvr will be part of the company’s Blended Reality line and will feature a 23.6-inch HD stereoscopic 3D display, full motion parallax technology and touch interaction that should allow users to navigate interfaces in 3D.

A notch lower are the HP Z27s ($749) and Z24s ($549)as well as the Z27q, which offer 4K and 5K resolutions respectively. The Z27s boasts a 27-inch display while the Z24s packs a 23.8-inch panel that comes with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a multitude of sports including DisplayPort, CVI, HDMI, Mini-DP, MHL and USB 3.0 connections.

The Z27q ($1299) on the other hand sports a slightly higher resolution than the rest of the bunch at 5120x2880 pixels and comes with picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture technology that allows users to display real-time feeds from other devices.

Bringing the rear are HP’s four curved displays. The HP Z34c and Envy 34c 3000r features a 34-inch panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 3440 x 1440. There are also the HP EliteDisplay S270c and Pavilion 27c 4000r ($399 each), which measures at 27-inch on the diagonal and packs Full HD resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio.

Finally, there are the two mini PCs. The HP Stream Mini is of course part of the company’s budget line of PCs and as such will be offered at an affordable price of $180. The device will feature an Intel Celeron chip with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage that is augmented by a 2-year 200GB OneDrive subscription. For around $140 more, you can get the HP Pavilion Mini which sports a more powerful processor, 4GB of RAM and a proper 500GB hard drive.

Both models use the same design, which is comprised of a couple of USB ports, a power button on the front, display ports and an audio jack at the back.

Those with heavy involvement in the field of video capture and graphic design would understand how a good quality display can mean a lot especially when it comes to the fine details of creative work such as colour reproduction.

But with HP’s newest DreamColors displays, this problem will definitely be a thing of the past. The American company introduced the HP Z27x and Z24X for PCs and Macs at this year’s NAB or National Association of Broadcasters in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The two models pack almost identical specs with the exception of screen size. Both offer 60 percent more pixels, and up to 4000 more colours than its predecessor. It’s is also 57 percent thinner compared to older DreamColors monitor and yet are 25 percent cheaper.

Both models feature the company’s hostless integrated calibration engine with built-in support for third-party professional colour measurement instruments, an Ethernet-based remote management with an integrated web server that provides control of the display, and a published software developer kit that allows consumers to fully integrate the monitors into their workflows.

The also feature 10-bit colour accuracy, dedicated presets for sRGB D65, sRGB D50, Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 to name a few. Moreover, the 24-inch model is capable of recreating 99 percent of the Adobe RGB range and has Full HD resolution. The Z27x on the other hand offers a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and can cover 100 percent of s4GB/Adobe RGB.

The new HP DreamColor displays should be available starting today, with a price tag of $599 and $1499 for the 24- and 27-inch version respectively.

It also features edge-to-edge glass for a smooth touch experience plus an image enhancer designed to sharpen images, improve color hues and boost color contrast. On top of it all, the S2240T features an Auto mode which offers a choice of pre-configured color settings to optimize the appearance of individual applications.

Dell has also considered improving power management in this model. The S2240T consumes power 28.57 percent lower than the previous-generation Dell Touch monitor. Furthermore, this model is packed with a couple of power-saving features including Dynamic Dimming and PowerNap, both of which adjust the screen in order to save energy.

The Dell 21.5-inch Touch Monitor | S2240T is priced at $399.99 under a 1 year Advance Exchange Warranty from Dell.
