Acer was the first to break the seal at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with the announcement of three Android phones and an entry-level Windows Phone handset.

The first three phones are all powered by Android. The Liquid Jade Z comes with a 5-inch HD screen with Zero Air Gap technology and a Gorilla Glass 3 panel. It also has a 64-bit MediaTek chip, an LTE radio, a 13MP camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing snapper for selfies.

Then there’s the Liquid Z220, a 4-inch phone with WVGA resolution and 233ppi screen density. It also packs a Snapdragon 200 chip with a dual-core processor and a 5MP rear camera with LED flash.

The third Android phone is the 5-inch Liquid Z520. It also has WVGA resolution and a screen density of 186ppi. Its processing power comes from a Snapdragon 400 chip with a quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It also comes with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a DTS studio sound speaker at the back.

Lastly, there’s the Liquid M220 with its 4-inch display and dual-core processor. The phone’s screen boasts a WVGA resolution while its innards are composed of a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, half a gig of RAM and 4GB of expandable storage.

The Liquid M220 will be running on Windows Phone 8.1 and comes with a 5MP+2MP camera combo.

Acer will be shipping these four phones into various markets across the globe starting this month. Specifically, the Liquid Z220 and Liquid Jade Z will launch with a price tag of €89 and €199 respectively. On the other hand the Liquid Z520 and Liquid M220 will be available by April for €109 and €79 respectively.

This week at CES, Acer unveiled its upcoming products for the year 2015 including a budget LTE smartphone, a massive Chromebook and some brand new monitors to name a few.

First up, we have the Liquid Z410 – a 4.5-inch smartphone with decent specs and an affordable price tag. The handset features a 64-bit MediaTek MT6732 chip with a Mali-T760 GPU, a 5MP+2MP camera combo, front-facing speaker with DTS Studio sound and most importantly a Cat 4 LTE radio.

The Z410 also features a number of Acer innovations including its QuickTouch function that allows users to easily control their phones with a simple one-finger gesture and Acer EXTEND which enables consumers to control their handset wired or wirelessly using a Windows-based PC. The phone will be available starting tomorrow for €129.

Acer is also treating is PC business with some goodies. The Taiwanese tech giant has announced two 27-inch gaming monitors during the event – the Acer XB270HU and XG270HU. Both models offer WQHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) and a refresh rate of 144Hz.

Their main difference is that the XB270HU will feature NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology support while the XG270HU will sport edge-to-edge frameless display technology. There’s no pricing information yet about the two monitors but shipping is expected to start by March.

Lastly, the company is also introducing its new Chromebook 15. Priced at around $250, this model is by far one of the biggest Chromebooks in the market with a 15.6-inch display. The device can come with either an Intel Core i3 or Celeron processor, up to 32GB SSD and up to 4GB of RAM.

There’s no definite dates when it comes to availability but we’ll let you know once Acer releases more information.

We’re just a few days away from the end of the year, but that fact isn’t stopping Acer from announcing a new phone. The tech giant just announced the Liquid Jade S, the company’s first 64-bit model and is an update to the Liquid Jade we saw at Computex last June.

The handset comes with a 5-inch HD panel protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 panel, a MediaTek MT6572M chip with a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The device boots Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box and gets its juice from a 2300mAh battery.

There’s a 13MP f1.8 camera at the back and a 2MP front-facing snapper for selfies. Other notable features of the Liquid Jade S include Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity. Acer is planning to roll out the phone by next week for around $230.

So we’ve already seen Acer’s wearable and trio of smartphones. So now it’s time to finally look at the last two devices that were announced by the electronics manufacturer in Taiwan recently – the 8-inch Iconia tablet and the 8-core Liquid X1.

The Acer Iconia Tab 8 of course is an 8-inch tablet with an IPS display boasting a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. It has a sophisticated design with metallic silver rear and slim profile. Just like the rest of Acer’s product announcements, the Iconia tablet features Zero Air Gap technology that reduces light reflection in order to bring images with higher contrast and better readability under sunlight.

The tablet’s surface also sports an anti-fingerprint coating and a 16:10 aspect ratio that’s ideal for watching videos. Acer has also added dual speakers that deliver surround sound effect. The Iconia Tab 8 will be powered by an Intel Atom quad-core processor and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

On the other hand, there’s the Acer Liquid X1 – one of the company’s newest handsets that comes equipped with powerful internals and fast connectivity.

The X1 specifically comes with an octa-core processor, a quad-core GPU, 2GB of RAM with of course Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled. There’s a 13MP camera at the back of the device with an f/1.8 aperture and 0.3 second focus capability.

Acer has also added a number of software-based enhancements for the camera including  a Free Focus feature that assists in putting a scene automatically into focus, a Bright Magic mode for taking images in low-light conditions and a Motion Tracking feature for capturing moving subjects.

The Liquid X1 has a 5.7-inch display which Acer has coupled with additional software that makes it easy to use with just one hand. For starters, there’s Acer Zoom Fit, which adjusts the user interface to just 4-inches so it would be easy to operate with one hand. There’s also AcerRAPID design that can quickly launch various apps with just a press of a button.

There’s also AcerFLOAT user interface that lets users multitask without having to close one app just to work on another. Both the Acer Liquid X1 and the Iconia Tab 8 will be available sometime in Q3 2014.

Following the announcement of the Liquid Leap smart band and Liquid Jade smartphone, Acer introduces three new handsets that are designed for emerging markets or users who plan to upgrade from their feature phones to smartphones.

First one up is the 4-inch Acer Liquid Z200. The phone is designed for consumers on a budget with an option for two SIM slots, an immersive DTS Studio Sound technology and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Acer has added a number of nifty features to the Z200 including the company’s proprietary AcerRAPID Design that allows the users to perform specific functions with a single press of a button.

There’s also a number of modes that are specifically tailored for certain age groups including Basic Mode for youngsters, Easy Senior mode for elderly users, Classic Mode for first time smartphone users and Keypad mode for consumers who primarily use their phone for just making calls.

There is only a 2MP snapper at the back, but Acer added several software enhancements on the camera to make up for the lower resolution sensor. These include an auto smile shot feature, continuous shot (burst mode) and panorama shot.

The Acer Liquid Z200 will be available by Q3 2014 in different color options including Titanium black, essential white, fragrant pink, sky blue and sunshine yellow.

 Now for those looking for a more capable smartphone, Acer’s Liquid E600 and E700 could be a viable alternative. Both phones come with 5-inch displays, Zero Air Gap Technology and triple-SIM capability.

The Liquid E700 specializes in providing consumers with excellent battery life with a 3500mAh battery pack that could last up to 60 hours of standby time. The handset packs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, a quad-core processor, 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card, and a 5-inch IPS display that offers wide viewing angles and rich images.

On the other hand, the Acer Liquid E600 boasts improved data connectivity and a more powerful camera. The handset sports Cat4 LTE connectivity that offers consumers up to 150Mbps download speeds.

The 8MP camera at the back has an f/2.0 aperture, which can be integrated into Acer’s RAPID design allowing for easy image and video capture (1080p videos) with just a press of a button. Acer has also added a new software feature called Acer interactive live screen which allows users to invite friends to a temporary group for sharing photos.

The Liquid E600 also comes with a couple of multi-tasking features including Acer SnapNote which allows consumers to capture stage presentations with automatic angle correction and PDF/PPT conversion making it easier to take notes during a business meeting or presentation.

There’s also AcerFloat which gives users the ability to use multiple apps in a screen much like other multi-window interface from different smartphone manufacturers.

Both the Acer Liquid E700 and E60 will be available by Q3 2014 with pricing information and complete product specifications to be announced before the official launch date.

COMPUTEX hasn’t officially started yet but Acer has already dropped the bomb and announced five smartphones, a tablet and a smartband this weekend. And since the number of announcements will just be too overwhelming to put in one post, we’ve decided to split them up in multiple posts.

So without further ado, let’s start with the Taiwanese company’s first wearable the Liquid Leap and its partner handset, the Acer Liquid Jade.

The Liquid leap sports a 1-inch touch screen incorporated in its durable rubber wristband and monitors a user’s activities including steps, running distance, calories burned and sleeping cycle up to 7 days. The band’s display also shows incoming call and SMS notifications as well as a music control function that lets users access and control the music library on their phones.

The smart band connects to the Liquid Jade smartphone over Bluetooth 4.0 and features IPX7 certification. The Acer Liquid Leap will come in a variety of colors including Moonstone White, aquamarine, fragrant pink and vivid orange.

The Leap’s partner device is the Acer Liquid Jade. The handset is built around a 5-inch HD IPS display with Zero Air Gap technologies and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 panel. There’s a 13MP camera at the back with an f1.8 aperture and 0.3 second focus speed.

There’s no detailed information yet with regards to the full specifications of the Liquid Jade, but both the Jade and the Leap are expected to launch from Q3 2014.
