Nokia today announced its newest feature phone to hit the
market starting next month – the Nokia 230. To be able to somehow compete in
the smartphone market, it looks like Nokia had to implement a few smartphone
features into this handset.
For starters, the Nokia 230 is not a fully plastic device.
Compared to its predecessors, the 230 boasts of a sand-blasted aluminum cover
that gives the handset a touch of premium.
The phone also has a 2MP+2MP camera combo with both sensors
accompanied by a flash. The camera on the rear is capable of shooting 1600 x
1200 pixel images and videos at 240p/15fps while the one at the front captures
VGA videos (640 x 480 pixels).
The 2.8-inch display of the device has a resolution of 320 x
240, which comes with a low power mode. The device has 16MB of RAM, which
should be enough to run the Series 30+ operating system installed on the phone.
Other notable features of the phone include Bluetooth v3.0,
an FM radio receiver, a microUSB port for charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and
a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB cards. Speaking of microSD card,
the Nokia 230 doesn’t have any form of internal storage, it utilizes the
microSD card for all storage needs.
The phone also comes with a 1200mAh battery which according
to Microsoft can last up to 27 days on standby.
