While the LG G4 and the Vu10 are already surfing the waves
of the market, another mid-range phone from LG is making a debut today in hopes
to entice holiday shoppers to upgrade from a starter phone to something with a
bit more power.
LG’s new Ray is built around a 5.5-inch IPS 720p display
with a MediaTek MT6592M chipset featuring a 1.4GHz octa-core processor, 1GB of
RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
The phone has a 13MP camera at the back with an LED flash
and an 8MP sensor at the front for selfies. LG has installed Android 5.1
Lollipop with the company’s own UX UI on top.
LG plans to sell the Ray as a budget phone and as such,
there are bound to be some compromise. The most striking of which is the lack
of support for LTE. The phone will only offer HSPA+ connectivity which offers 21Mbps
download speeds.
The phone also comes with a 3000mAh battery and is
constructed from plastic with a brushed aluminum treatment. The LG Ray X190
will be available initially in Russia this week for around $232.
