Tablets and the elements don’t usually go well together,
mostly because electronics gets fried if you expose them to water and dust.
Well, that won’t happen if you happen to have a ruggedized device just like the
new Dell Latitude 12 tablet.
Dell’s Latitude line has long been known to produce rugged
laptops that can take a beating. Now the American company is bringing the same
tough exterior to an 11.6-inch Windows tablet.
The slate will be powered by Intel’s fifth generation Core M
processor, up to 512GB of solid state storage and up to 8GB of RAM. The display
on the device will be 1366 x 768 and the battery is expected to run up to 12
hours on a single charge.
As it is, Dell is trying to market the Latitude 12 as a tougher
alternative to the Microsoft Surface tablet and is meant to be used in specific
industries including industrial construction, emergency medical situations and
other outdoor activities.
Just like the Surface tablet, the Latitude will also come
with similar accessories such as a full-size keyboard cover that is also water
and dust resistant. Dell hasn’t given any details when it comes to the Latitude’s
price but we should expect prices to go north of $1500.
