Oppo recently unveiled two new midrange smartphones that
once again uses glossy glass and glass-like materials that give it a look that’s
more expensive than its real worth.
The first phone is the Neo 5 (2015) which comes with a
MediaTek MT6582 chip that features a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, a dual-core
Mali-400MP2 graphics card, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage.
The second model is an S version that goes with a Snapdragon
410 chipset with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, an Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB of RAM,
8GB of expandable storage and support for LTE connectivity.
Now for the similarities. Both models will have an 8MP rear
camera with an f/2.2 lens complemented by an LED flash. At the front, there’s a
2MP selfie snapper with an f/2.8 lens. Screen real estate is at 4.5 inches with
a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels (~218 ppi).
The two phones will also have a 2000mAh battery and a
double-layer metallic structure that provides rigidity and helps with heat
dissipation. The back features a laminated reflective back cover but without
the glass effect. Both models will run on Android 4.4.2 with Oppo’s ColorOS
v2.0.1 on top.
