Smartphones with ultra-slim bezels are not that hard to come
by these days. Just this month alone, there have been two new devices already
that sport the design. And this week, we have two new additions to the bunch –
the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus.
The two phones were officially unveiled in Beijing. The R7
comes with a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display that stretches edge to edge, a
Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip with a 64-bit octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and
16GB of expandable storage.
At the back, there’s a 13MP camera with an f/2.2 lens, phase
detection autofocus and an LED flash. There’s also a 2320mAh battery on the R7
which supports VOOC rapid charging.
The R7 Plus on the other hand gets a 6-inch display, with
the same resolution as the one on the base R7. The Plus model also gets an
upgrade in storage with 32GB of ROM and in the camera department with laser
autofocus and dual-LED flash.
It also comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back plus the
camera sensor on its back if of the RGBW variety which is said to reduce noise
and gathers light better than most conventional sensors.
Both models will run on ColorOS v2.1 (a customized version
of Android) and will have Cat 4 LTE connectivity and dual SIM capability.
The Oppo R7 will be priced at around $400 while the R7 Plus will retail for
around $80 more.
