Lenovo Tech World in Beijing is the place where the tech
giant unveiled its three newest laptop models, which we talked about yesterday.
Today, we’ll talk about the other two things that the company has unveiled at
their special event.
On one hand, there’s the second generation ThinkPad 10
Windows 8.1 tablet. There are two choices when it comes to SoC for the tablet –
an Intel Atom Z8500 or an Atom Z8700. As the name suggests, the ThinkPad 10
offers a 10.1-inch display with a screen resolution of 1900 x 1200 pixels,
which is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Depending on the model, users can choose from 2GB or 4GB of
RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. Connectivity-wise, there’s a USB 3.0
port, a micro HDMI port, a microSD card slot, optional 3G/4G LTE support,
802.11 Wi-Fi, three microphones, Bluetooth v4.0 and a standard 3.5mm audio
jack.
The device will also sport RealTek speakers, a 5MP rear
camera with auto-focus, a 1.2MP selfie camera with fixed focus, and a 32Wh
battery (which according to Lenovo can last up to 10 hours on a single charge).
The Lenovo ThinkPad 10 2nd Generation tablet will
be available in the coming months for around $549. Lenovo will also be
launching a couple of accessories for the tablet including a $110 Folio keyboard, a $119 for an Ultrabook keyboard,
and a dock that costs $129 to name a few.
Now for some cooler stuff. The company has also announced a new technology called Smart Cast that will allow smartphone users to project their phone’s screen to any surface. The technology uses a laser projector mounted on a twisting mechanism to project what’s on the screen on a flat horizontal surface.
There’s no device yet that has been confirmed to support
this but we’ll definitely get more information in the very near future.
