Olympus Outs a New ILC for Selfie Addicts

If you’re the type of person who’s into semi-professional photography but also has a certain fondness of taking pictures of yourself, then Olympus’s new Pen E-PL7 might be the camera for you.

First and foremost, the Pen E-PL7 is a full-fledged mirrorless camera system with a 16MP 4/3 Live MOS sensor with TruePic VII image processor and an in-body three-axis image stabilization the same one found in the OM-D E-M10 that was announced back in February in CP+.

The camera also has a quick AF system featuring an 81-point AF grid allowing the PL7 to shoot a moving subject up to 3.5 frames per second. The PL7 also has a maximum shutter speed of up to 1/4000 (with Bulb setting), an ISO range of 100-25600 and HDR function.

Olympus has also equipped the PL7 with Wi-Fi connectivity allowing users to remotely control the camera using a smartphone or tablet as well as easily transferring photos to connected devices.

But of course the feature that makes the E-PL interesting is its Selfie functionality. The 3-inch 1037k-dot LDC touchscreen display that can flip up to 180 degrees for that perfect Selfie. The special self-portrait mode also kicks in whenever the user swings out the display.

The Olympus Pen E-PL will be available this September for around $700 with a 14-24mm f/3.5-5.6 standard zoom lens.
