ZTE Introduces Three New Nubia Handsets

ZTE has just unveiled three new devices which it intends to pit against other manufacturer’s flagship trio like those from Samsung, LG and HTC.

The first device is the Nubia Z7 – ZTE’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and LG G3. The phone is built around a 5.5-inch QHD display (~538ppi) and comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz and 3GB of RAM.

There’s also a 13MP camera at the back with an f/2.0 aperture and optical image stabilization as well as a 5MP front-facing camera. ZTE has also added a Display RAM feature that helps keep its 3000mAh battery last longer.

In terms of connectivity, the Nubia boasts two SIM card slots, dual-band Wi-Fi as well as LTE connectivity. Pricing for the Nubia Z7 is around $550 in China, with no specific information on whether or not ZTE will offer the phone in other markets.

The second handset is the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max. The handset has the same 5.5-inch display as the basic Z7 but bears only Full HD resolution. The guts of the Z7 Max is almost identical to the basic Z7 including a Snapdragon 801 chip, 2GB of RAM and a 13MP camera.

The Nubia Z7 Max will be offered at a lower price point at around $320.

Lastly, there’s the ZTE Nubia Z Mini. Although it can hardly be considered as a Mini since it has a 5.0-inch display (much like the Oppo N1 Mini). Just like the Z7 and the Max, the Mini comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

There’s also a 13MP rear camera (no OIS) and a 5MP front-facing snapper for selfies. The Z7 Mini will be $80 cheaper than the Z7 Max and will have a smaller battery rated at 2300mAh. All three phones will have a microSD expansion slot and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat with ZTE's Nubia UI on top.
