People say its better late than never. And this is probably
what BlackBerry said to said when it announced today its own virtual assistant,
dubbed as the BlackBerry Assistant.
The new functionality will be part of BB OS 10.3 and much
like Google’s Now, Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana will be voice
activated. And just like its competitors, the BB Assistant will allow users to
launch apps, set reminders, change phone settings and send messages and social
network updates.
Other than the features mentioned above, the BB Assistant
doesn’t look it has anything extra to offer. Nonetheless, it should make the
remaining BlackBerry handset owners want to hold on to their devices a bit
longer.
