Amazon’s smartphone is probably one of the most long-awaited
products in recent years. The handset has been the stuff of rumours for the
past year or two and yet the only substantial bit of information we’ve got
about the device only surfaced a couple of weeks ago.
Fortunately, it looks like the long wait is over as Amazon has
just sent out invites for a special event on June 18 that will be hosted by
none other than Jeff Bezos, the company’s CEO. The invites were posted along
with a teaser video that shows “Amazon customer” being wowed by a handheld
device.
The video doesn’t show the device, so we don’t know for sure
if the device will be the smartphone or another Kindle tablet. However, the
actions of the people in the video do point to a mobile phone product
especially when one said “it moves with me”, which conforms to earlier rumours
of a tilt-based navigation system.
The event is just a few days from now, so we’ll just have to
wait for June 18 to confirm all the rumours we’ve seen and heard so far.
