Samsung has just introduced a new version of its Galaxy S5
flagship phone that’s designed for consumers who have access to LTE-A networks.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A was announced yesterday in South Korea.
The phone is packing a couple of improvements over the
original S5 including an updated chip – a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and a
better display at QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) at 5.1 inches. The phone
utilizes a 2.5GHz quad-core Krait processor, an Adreno 420 GPU and 4GB of RAM.
And as the name implies, this version of the S5 boasts LTE-A
connectivity. That means the handset can reach download speeds up to 225Mbps,
which is around three times faster than the speed of traditional LTE networks
(do note that LTE-A is only available in select countries).
Other than that, the S5 LTE-A bears identical specs and
features to the original S5 including a 16MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2MP
front-facing snapper, a 2800mAh Li-ion battery and IP67 certification.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A will be sold in South Korea for
around $919 in four different colour options – black, white, blue or gold.
