Samsung has just announced its next-generation tablet and
its one intended for e-book readers. The tablet was forged with Barnes &
Noble and is known as the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 Nook.
The tablet is of course a 7-inch slate and comes with a 1280
x 800 resolution. Under the hood is a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 CPU
complemented by 1.5GB of RAM and either 8GB of 1GB of internal storage with of
course room for expansion via a microSD card.
The Tab 4 Nook will likely come with Android’s latest
release v4.4 KitKat with Nook’s customized UI that has heavy focus on e-book
reading. For one, the tablet will have access to Barnes & Noble’s massive
digital collection of books, magazines and newspapers.
Just like in previous version of the Nook tablet, some core
Android features might be restricted. Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Tab 4
7.0 Nook initially in the US. There’s no information on price given yet, but it’s
likely to be priced at around $200 so as to better compete with Amazon’s Kindle
line.
