Google has just announced a new service that will possibly give
companies like GoDaddy and eNom a run for its money. Yesterday, the search
giant unveiled Google Domains – its domain listing service which is now in
private beta.
The new service will offer free private registration that
will allow users to mask their name and other sensitive information from Whois
searches, free email forwarding from any domain to a Gmail inbox, free domain
forwarding and support up to 100 sub-domains. Google will also provide support
to upcoming domain endings like .guru and .club.
Since the service is still in private beta, anyone who wants
to try out the service will require an invite to get in, although you can ask
for an invitation through Google Domains’ website. The search giant has also
not indicated how many people will be involved in the beta testing but it did
mention that the service will provide phone support once it’s released.
