Skype is probably one of the most popular tools for
communication these days. The platform has been used both on personal and
professional fields to help two or more people talk and see each other even
though they are miles apart. This week, Microsoft announced that it will soon
bring a new feature on Skype that will take the software to greater heights by
transcending language barriers.
Dubbed as the “pre-beta of Magic”, Skype Translate was demonstrated by none other than Microsoft’s CEO
Satya Nadella at the first Code conference in Rancho Palos Verdes in
California. The upcoming service delivers near real-time translation with just
a few seconds of lag before the translated phrase appears in the form of a
subtitle at the bottom of the screen.
The demonstration involved translation from German to
English and Microsoft added that they will include more languages in the
future. The company is looking at releasing the service in beta by the end of
the year on all devices that run Skype.
