Almost every big name in the tech space has its own form of
wearable. Samsung has its Gear watches, Sony has its smartwatch, Motorola and
LG have the yet to be released Moto 360 and G watch respectively, even Apple is
expected to release a smartwatch next week. So who’s the odd one out?
Microsoft.
But if recent reports are to be believed, Microsoft may soon
release its own smartwatch soon. And on top of that, the wearable will be able
to work with not just Windows Phone but with iOS and Android as well.
According to the report, the Redmond-based company has
employed the team responsible for developing the Kinect sensor of the Xbox consoles. The watch will allegedly have a
display the size of “half a stick of gum” that will be placed facing the user
(much like Razer’s
Nabu) so that it will be easier for the user to see his notifications
without other seeing it.
Microsoft has long been rumoured
to be in the development of a smartwatch, but it is the first time we’ve heard
of a wearable that works across the three major mobile platforms. Nonetheless,
a rumour is still a rumour so there is still the possibility that this
smartwatch won’t make it to reality. For now, we’ll just have to keep our eyes
and ears open and wait for more information to be available.
