Amazon’s smartphone is possibly the longest running rumour
in the smartphone industry and it was only recently that the existence of the
phone was backed by something more substantial in the form of leaked
images that were distributed on the internet.
However, the leaked images didn’t really give us a complete
view of the unit as the phone was wrapped in a black case that revealed only
minor details with regards to the device’s design. Today, BGR has managed to slip
another photo of the handset between the cracks. But this time, the leaked
image of the device bares it all as it does away with the black casing,
revealing all the design elements Amazon employed in its development and
construction.
In terms of overall design, the smartphone bears similar
design to other popular handsets. For instance, it sports bevelled edges and
round corners similar to Apple’s iPhone 5C. Meanwhile, the front of the device
bears a striking resemblance to Samsung’s Galaxy S models, especially with the
rectangular home button.
According to BGR’s sources, the Amazon smartphone will also
come equipped with a 4.7-inch HD display, a quad-core Snapdragon processor, 2GB
of RAM and four low-energy infrared cameras that deliver a 3D UI to users. In terms of software the phone will be running on a heavily customized version of Android similar to that found on Amazon's Kindle Fire Tablets but with the added feature of gesture-based controls.
