Chinese manufacturer Oppo has been shaking the airwaves
lately with the announcement of its Find 7 and Find 7a flagship smartphones.
And last week, the company has officially landed on Philippine shores as it
introduced not only the Find 7 but also other devices in its range that are
running ColorOS.
The announcement was led by the company’s top execs
including Oppo Philippines’ CEO James Ma, Overseas Brand Director Katrina Li and Product Manager Han Zhao at the posh Sofitel Luxury Hotel in Pasay City.

On the surface, the event was primarily about the local
launch of the company’s flagship smartphones – the QHD Find 7 and the Full HD
Find 7a. Oppo’s Product Manager Han Zhao went on stage to discuss the various
features of the handset including its 4K video recording capabilities and VOOC
charging technology.
There wasn’t any mention of the Find 7’s Superzoom
functionality, but Oppo representatives was able to demo it after the main
programme. Basically, the Superzoom feature allows the Find 7 to create 50MP
images using the 13MP sensor by stitching 10 frames in one image (looks like
the opposite of what the Nokia Lumia 1020 is implementing).
But beyond the fancy product introductions and the quirky
dance number at the end, the event was an opportunity for Oppo to showcase its
entire line of smartphones, especially the user interface overlay installed on
them – ColorOS. In fact, a small portion of the event area was used as a demo
section for the company’s offerings including the N1, R1, Find 5 Mini and the
Neo.
All of Oppo’s phones feature the company’s ColorOS and its
feature-heavy interface. For starters, all of the company’s phone come equipped
with lockscreen gestures that allow users to unlock the phone or open specific
apps by simply drawing symbols on the screen, even when the device is locked.
ColorOS also features a dedicated gesture panel which is
accessible by dragging down the top-left portion of the notification bar. From
the gesture panel, users can assign gestures to any app on the phone. There’s
also a dedicated page on the homescreen for camera-focused widgets, a holiday
mode that filters work-related emails and messages from disturbing you and a
number of security apps to make your content safe.
Oppo phones are also well-versed in the camera department.
Aside from the N1’s swivelling 13MP camera, the entire range comes with
software solutions that should make taking pictures a breeze with features
including Panorama mode and a Beauty shot that should make Camera360 fans very
happy.
There are also improvements in the audio department thanks
to a so called Waves effect provided by MaxxAudio. The technology is used by
various recording studios globally and offers users superb virtual bass
processing and the ability to fully adjust audio levels through a ten-level
audio adjustment scheme.
Oppo has competitively priced its handsets in order to
compete with brands such as Samsung, LG and Sony. Pricing for each handset in
their product range are outlined below.
