If you think AMD’s R-series
of graphics cards are still not packing enough kick for your gaming needs, you’ll
be delighted to know that the American chip maker is once again upping the ante
by releasing the Radeon R9 295X2 GPU.
Previously bearing the codename Project Hydra, the graphics
card uses two R9 295X2 chips, 5632 stream processors, 8GB of memory and two
512-bit memory interface that allows the card to achieve 11.5 TFLOPS of
computing power. This means the R9 295X2 can deliver twice the performance of
its predecessor – the R9 290X.
The card is built from powder-coated aluminium and comes
with a factory-fitted, closed-loop liquid cooling system that was developed
alongside Asetek. Just like the previous generation of AMD chips, the R9 295X2
supports AMD’s Mantle Technology and True Audio Technology.
The R9 2952X2 is geared towards hard-core gamers especially
since it supports 4K gaming and AMD’s Eyefinity technology setup that allows
users to use up to five HD screens. The card will be available towards the end
of May for $1499.
Now for those looking for an even more powerful card for
their visual needs, there’s the FirePro W9100.
The FirePro is a GPU beast sporting 16GB of GDDR5 memory,
512-bit memory interface and 320Gbps of memory bandwidth. This allows the card
to achieve a peak double-precision computer performance of 2.62TFLOPS and
increases up to 5.24TFLOPS for peak single precision.
The FirePro also supports Open Computing Language (OpenCL)
and OpenGL 4.3 and Direct X 11.1 .It also provides users with up to 6 mini
DisplayPort 1.2 connections that can power six 4K displays simultaneously.
Moreover, up to four cards can be combined in a single machine for those
looking of even more graphics processing power and more UHD displays.
THE AMD FirePro W9100 will be available within the next
three months with pricing information to be published at a later date.
