Two weeks ago we saw an OTG
thumb drive that works with iOS devices as well as with Mac and PCs. And as
it turns out, there are other manufacturers who have built something similar.
Take for example this flash drive aptly called OTG (On The Go) that works not
just with Apple devices but also with those running on Android.
OTG comes in a slim square design that’s 11mm thick. It
features three different plugs on its three sides (a standard USB plug, a
microUSB plug and a Lightning connector) that allow the device to work with
Macs and PCs, iOS products and devices that run on Android. The device is
capable of both syncing and charging any device as it also packs its own
battery, which can later on be used to augment a device’s energy supply.
Users will be able to play different kinds of media straight
from OTG including music, movies and images. OTG can also function as a Bluetooth
locator which either allow users to locate their smartphone using the device or
locate keys (OTG has a special latch where keys can be connected) using its
companion app.
OTG comes in three different storage capacities: 32GB, 64GB
and 128GB. It supports various file formats for photos, videos, audio and even
documents. The device is now available for pre-order on the company’s website
with the 32GB going for $199 ($129 if you order now) and goes up to $349 for
the 128GB version ($279 for early adopters).
