OnePlus has made a name for itself in the past with its One
smartphone being what many come to call a “flagship killer” thanks to its
top-tier specs at midrange pricing. The OnePlus One was also known for packing
the latest version of the popular Android custom ROM CyanogenMod.
But this time around, the company is ditching the CyanogenMod ROM in favor of its very own Oxygen OS based from Android 5.0 Lollipop. The company is rolling the update to its One smartphone via the OnePlus site.
Users will, of course will be required to manually wipe and
flash their phones in order to install the update. Several features will come
with the new operating system including a built-in file manager for power
users, gesture-based commands for the lockscreen, and customizable quick
settings.
The company promises for a stable and reliable experience,
specifically stating improvements in the area of performance, battery life and
the removal of bloatware features.
