Sony’s Xperia line might reportedly have the same fate as
the Vaio brand, but before Sony sells off the Xperia brand, the company must
first get over Mobile World Congress. And this year, it has decided to launch
two new devices – the Xperia M4 Aqua and the Xperia Z4 Tablet.
The Xperia M4 Aqua is mid-range handset bearing a 64-bit
Snapdragon 615 chipset with an octa-core processor, an Adreno 405 graphics,
8GB/16GB of expandable storage and 2GB of RAM. It also has a 13MP camera at the
back with a LED flash and a 5MP front-facing selfie camera.
Power is supplied by a 2400mAh battery, which according to
Sony can last up to 2 full days of normal usage. It also has 4G LTE
connectivity, Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, IP68 certification and a
cap-less microUSB port.
Sony will start shipping the Xperia M4 Aqua in Q2 2015 for
€299 in several color options including white, black, coral and silver.
Then there’s the Xperia Z4 tablet. The device sports a
10.1-inch display with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution that equates to a screen
density of 300ppi. The massive display is complimented by the company’s
Triluminos technology and X-reality mobile engine.
Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 810 chip with a 64-bit
octa-core processor, an Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable
storage. There’s an 8MP Sony Exmor sensor at the back while the front is graced
by a 5MP wide-angle selfie snapper.
The slate is IP68-certified, is powered by a 6000mAh battery
and comes with 4G LTE connectivity. Just like the Xperia M4 Aqua, the tablet
runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes with a cap-less microUSB port.
Sony also made a couple of accessories for the Z4 tablet. These
includes the Sony BKB50 Bluetooth keyboard, which comes with its own touchpad
and various ports, a tablet cover and a Bluetooth speaker.
