Microsoft just announced today the newest version of its
Office productivity suite as well as its Skype for business instant messaging
client at its Convergence 2015 event in Atlanta.
The productivity suite preview is specifically built to
provide convenience for IT administrators who manage enterprise accounts. The
2016 version of Office brings a number of improvements into the table including
features as Data Loss Protection (DLP), improvements in Outlook including
multi-factor authentication and improved overall performance as well as
improvements in accessibility.
The company also announced its Skype for Business
communication tool. The new software is actually the next version of Microsoft’s
enterprise messaging client – Microsoft Lync, and combines the familiar feature
set of previous versions of Lync but gets the Skype flavor.
Microsoft has baked numerous features into the software
including presence, instant messaging, voice and video calls, online meetings
and other Office integration features. The company also promised that the
software will generally be available by April.
