Microsoft: Project Spartan and Windows 10 Updates

Microsoft is finally pulling the plug on its long-time web browser – Internet Explorer. The announcement was made during the company’s Convergence event in Atlanta.

The news was earlier reported by The Verge pointing out that Internet Explorer will continue to exist in some versions of Windows 10, mostly for enterprise versions for compatibility reasons. As for consumer versions, Microsoft wants Project Spartan to be the primary method of accessing the internet.

At the moment, details about the final name of the browser are still shrouded in mystery. So, we just have to wait until Microsoft makes the software commercially available together with the new version of the company’s Windows OS.

And speaking of Windows 10, earlier reports suggest that Microsoft will allow those with pirated copies of earlier versions of Windows to upgrade for free to Windows 10. However, the Redmond-based company has clarified this issue saying that it will provide a mechanism for individuals who hold pirated copies of Windows to upgrade but did not confirm if it will be a no-strings-attached deal.

The company has been making money selling their operating system for more than a decade already and it’s already a stretch for them to provide free updates. So it isn’t really surprising for Microsoft to do such a thing.
