HP has just revealed a new business laptop that once again
is trying to compete for the MacBook
Air market just like Toshiba’s
Kira and Lenovo’s
Yoga Pro 3. The upcoming HP EliteBook Folio 1020 is scheduled to launch by
early 2015 and thanks to Intel’s new Core M processors, HP is able to keep the
weight and thickness of the laptop in check.
The laptop will be offered in two flavors, a QHD (2560 x
1440 pixel) model and a Full HD variant. There will also be options for
touchscreen and non-touchscreen displays for both models. The device’s body
will be made from magnesium-lithium while carbon will be the material of choice
for the bottom of the product.
HP has also gone to great lengths to ensure that the Folio
1020 will be durable. In fact, the machine is MIL-STD-810G certified, which
means that it is drop resistant, shock resistant and can withstand extreme
temperatures.
The Folio 1020 is said to have a battery life of up to 9
hours and comes with HP’s Client Management Solutions and optional LANDesk and
Intel VPro technology to easily help the device fit in into a business’s
existing IT infrastructure. Other notable features include improved
enterprise-class security such as TPM 1.2/2.0 (Trusted Platform Module),
pre-boot authentication and a fingerprint reader.
No word on pricing yet, but as it will be an enterprise
machine, we expect its price to go beyond the $1000 mark.
